No Moon, But

This video was taken several weeks ago–the sound of the whippoorwill in the woods beyond the barn.

you forgot to mention the lightning bugs =o) it looks and sounds so peaceful…curious, do you have mosquito’s there? my ONLY reason for not sitting outside and enjoying the night sounds in my own yard!

  2. yvonnem says:

Thank you! We don’t hear the whippoorwill often.

  3. Cheryl LeMay says:

Lucky you. I wish we had them here. But we don’t have any woods-only the trees that grow along the river. We listen to the great horned owls and screech owls.

  4. Barbee says:

I love that sound. We used to have whippoorwills here, but no more. I have read that they are ground nesting birds, and there are many cats in this area.

  5. easygoinglady says:

love that sound. and fortunately I don’t have mosquitos because I have bats that live in the many trees that keep the mosquito away. Much better than chemical spray.

  6. NancyL says:

I, too, love the sound of whippoorwills, but haven’t heard any in quite some time. They were all around us when I was a kid in Florida.
