Oddly Delicious

What is it? A ship, a plane, Super Marshmallow? These treats look like mushroom clouds on a cracker, but don’t be fooled. They are delicious. Sweet and salty and peanut buttery.

Sometimes I see a recipe come in at Farm Bell Recipes and it’s meant to be. I saw this one come in and I had everything–the crackers, the peanut butter, the marshmallows. Okay, I didn’t have round buttery crackers as called for in the recipe, but I didn’t let my poor Saltines stop me. I was even hungry at the moment AND I had the oven already turned on and room to stick something else in there!

Who am I to say no to so many planets correctly aligned?

These are best eaten warm, so you probably shouldn’t wait till the kids come home from school to finish them off. No, I didn’t just eat ALL those snacks in the picture. Why do you ask?

Curse you Suzanne! I just quit smoking 7 weeks ago and have really been watching what I eat so I didn’t gain weight. Now, I MUST make these!

  7. Brenda says:

Eeks looks like a science experiment gone bad. But I’ll take your word for it that they are good.

  8. Window On The Prairie says:

oh my, they do look goofy, but sound delicious. What a great idea, and they look easy to make. Thanks Suzanne

  9. Jana H. says:

Yum. We used to have these all the time when I was a kid. I still eat ’em every now and then. They’re also good with a sprinkle of chocolate chips between the pb and marshmallow. 😀

  10. PossumManor says:

I saw them, and had to immediately make them. They are certainly tasty.

  11. Whaledancer says:

I guess I’ve never baked a marshmallow like that, only toasted them over an open fire or microwaved them, but they look surprisingly…strange. Like mushroom growths or geological hoodoos.
Hmmm, now that I think of it, I DO have Ritz crackers, peanut butter, and marshmallows on hand. Maybe I need to see for myself? But, wait: I have mini marshmallows. I wonder what those would look like. Fairy rings of mushrooms?

  12. Carol Langille says:

Just made six of them…..you know to test the recipe. Ate all six. Not even a crumb left.
Thanks, Jana…now I have to do the test again with chocolate chips and, Whaledancer, I used mini marshamallow and they don’t puff up as high but tasty nonetheless!
    Thanks, Suzanne…..yummy!

  13. Jane says:

I actually had your cracker candy recipe in my head all day (I’ve been meaning to try it since I saw it as I’ve never had that before) but I don’t have any chocolate chips. I DO have peanut butter and marshmallows (and I’m craving something sweet) so I am going to try this instead.

  14. andrea pierce says:

Hmmmm… Salt? Good. Peanut butter? Good. Marshmallow? Goooood. Not sure how you can go wrong here. But it does look a little disturbing. Maybe if we eat them with our eyes closed….

  15. Carmen at Old House Kitchen says:

Oh My! I know what I’m making some time this week for snack time! I have two girls who are allergic to peanut butter, but I think their soy butter will do! Thanks a bunch!

  16. GrammieEarth says:

OHHH NOOO. I have been here before.

MMM to nibbly, crunchy, marshmallowy parts with PB & added choco bits.

I am afraid I have all the goodies to satisfy this new need.

    =) Pam

  17. CasieD says:

Alright…. why did I read this at this time of day?!! gotta try them tonight but I may wait until the kids are in bed. You know… just to make sure they are good before I make them any 😉 I have some mini chocolate chips that may just make their way in there too!

  18. Cheryl LeMay says:

I’m sorry – if I ever made anything that looked as weird as that, no matter how good it tasted,my husband would laugh at me and I’d never hear the end of it.

  19. Andrea the Kitchen Witcha says:

My mom used to make these for us when I was a kid all the time! I loved them!!! We always used saltines, too 🙂 Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🙂
