Love the orange slice, berry, popcorn garland. Are those just plain raw cranberries?
Cute gingerbread men!

On December 14, 2009 at 6:19 am
Suzanne McMinn says:
No, I don’t put a sealer on them. I dried them for about three or four hours in the dehydrator.

Simply just beautiful! The birds will love it after the tree comes down. The animals will love the cookies. The rabbits and small game will love the tree. What a totally recyclable Christmas tree!

Suzanne,
Your tree is really nice! We don’t even have ours yet…this week I hope to get it (we always get a “ditch cedar”). I have been drying orange peel for firestarter and orange slices for the tree as per your instructions! I am nothing if not an obedient reader. 😎
It is icy and the temperature is dropping rapidly here today…so off to feed the cattle, then get a few supplies, then have an indexing deadline to make, THEN get to bake stuff for Christmas. Thanks for listening to my little “life for a day” story.

Ms E says:
How do you get the oranges to string “flat”? Fabulous tree!!
On December 14, 2009 at 10:45 am
Suzanne McMinn says:
I thread the needle into one side of the orange then out the other side. That way, it lays flat across the garland. I use white thread, so you can’t see it.

Do the dogs ear the pop corn from the garlands? Or are they all outside only dogs?
On December 14, 2009 at 10:10 pm
Suzanne McMinn says:
Yes, they are outdoor dogs! They’d be eating the cookies off the tree if they were in here, LOL.

Beautiful tree! LOVE it – you’ve inspired me to go “green” with our tree. The kids and I are baking cookies for the tree today.
How do you keep the cats out of the tree? We had to give up having a real tree because we couldn’t keep the cats out of it. They love to climb! I can imagine the trouble we’d have with all those goodies on the tree!
On December 15, 2009 at 6:26 am
Suzanne McMinn says:
They haven’t been bothering it much except for what’s at the bottom. They’re indoor-outdoor cats, so they are out a lot, too.
