Running Rooster

Jan

I don’t know why this Dominecker rooster is running. I think I must have had a biscuit in my pocket. But more important! Notice we have no snow on the ground. We’ve had no snow on the ground for over a week now, but it’s supposed to snow today……

We had a tiny bit of snow one day last week but nothing much in a few weeks. Temps in the 40s in our area of SD, east of us it’s been awful. I remember WV snow as being beautiful! I’ve got an order ready for some chicks, very excited about that! Enjoy the weekend everyone!

  2. Blessings says:

Temperature in Michigan is 6 degrees with 4inches of snow and counting!

Chickens just wanna have fun :chicken: :happyflower:
We had snow and big winds, complete with whiteouts on Thursday, after a few day warm up which reminded us what grass look like. Now our temps have plummeted again here in upstate NY. We have -2º this morning.
    Have a great weekend, Suzanne!

Oh oh…hope you’re not going to get what we just had here in Kansas. We had no snow…sunshine..temps in the low 50’s and the bee’s were out this past Wednesday. NOW we have about 5 inches of snow and a temp of 10. Good Luck!!! (I think the rooster is running because he knows what’s coming) :hungry2:

We were without snow for about 3 days… Then, cold and snow. I was just happy to get rid of the last batch of ice!!!

  7. Phyllis Ryan says:

We got a ton of wind and rain last night. Hope is is gone by the time it reaches up the coast.

It’s -13.3 right now, supposed to get to 10 above, and a little warm-up starts. A friend here has a personal weather station on the net, so it’s easy to get accurate info for our weather. Our snow cover is now about 12 inches. But so icy our gravel road is like a skating rink, impossible to walk outside.

Wait a minute…..isn’t that a fluffy chicken butt I see to the far right of the picture? Maybe Mr. Dominecker is chasing him a sweet pullet! Love in the hen yard.

We haven’t seen the ground for over a month. The driveway is clear in the middle and both sides foot of now all down the driveway. The rooster just looks glad to see you!

Here in Northern PA it was 4 degrees last evening. We’re forecast for flurries but no significant amount of snow. It’s been pretty mild this winter in this area. I’m not complaining. I’m getting ready to order seeds and things for Spring. As I get older, I appreciate the bare ground more and more. Hope it lasts for a while.

  12. Nancy in Iowa says:

Yep, I, too, still have the same old mounds of frozen snow around, roads are kept clear and for the last couple of weeks the sidewalk from the apt. to the car has been clear. We had a tad of snow early this week, but don’t expect anything new until next week.

Do you suppose your rooster is just excited that his feet touch ground without freezing?

  13. Miss Kitler says:

6 inches in Huntington on this fine Saturday!

  14. DonnaTN says:

Yesterday we were teased with a snowy forecast only to end up with a couple of inches of freezing rain/sleet! It is so crusted over that my foot didn’t break through the surface when I stepped outside! (And I am NOT a light weight.)

  15. Barbee' says:

It is 21 degrees F here in Lexington, Kentucky, where the men’s basketball team is playing Vanderbilt here in town at 4 p.m. EST. We also have about 4 inches of new snow that fell during the night. The old snow was gone. The bird feeders are swarmed and half empty since filling yesterday. Looking out once I saw 5 species eating away, then a Blue Jay flew in and everyone else flew away. Wish I had a pretty rooster to eat what they drop.
