  10. Shirley says:

I don’t know where to get the lye to make the soap. I can find the other items(I think). Do you order your ingredients from someplace?

I’d like to make some of the shampoo bars and just soap for Christmas gifts.

  11. Shirley says:

Ignore that last question about finding lye. I went back and read your post on soap making lesson 1.

    Thanks,

  12. Linda Goble says:

I can’t wait. Would love to try to make soap. I use the laundry soap and the fabric softer sponges. I just love your site. I must read it every day. My husband justloves me telling all the stories.

  13. Darlene in North Ga says:

I haven’t bought any in a while, but I used to be able to get Red Devil Lye from Ace Hardware store. I think you have to ask for it now, but I think it’s still available.
(It’s kept behind the counter now as it’s one of the ingredients that people can use to make meth.) And if I was going to make a lot of soap and so I was going to buy a LOT of lye, I’d be taking a bar of soap with me for proof of what I’m doing with it.
