If you want to throw your hat in on the guessing game for when Beulah Petunia will have her baby to win a Ball Blue Book for the closest guess, be sure to go here. The evening report is–still no baby.
But. She has had some clearish discharge, sporadically.
And I think I’m spending way too much time looking at her hiney…..
Oh, and I’ve picked out a name for if it’s a boy. It shall be called Darnit.

Okay I need to change my guess — haha — I had a friend once giving birth and she did the same thing – YUK – so I’m thinking she’s going to give birth by tomorrow evening. Do you check BP often or just once a day? I’ll bet she has that calf by noon tomorrow from the looks – p.s. glad I already had my dinner.

ROFL I am actually eating my dinner now while I view this, but I’ve seen way too many cow hinies… and goat hinies, and horse hinies, and chicken hinies too for it to bother me! :moo: I’m not going to predict anything because only Beulah Petunia knows for sure, and if she hears that we’re all guessing, she’ll be sure to foil our predictions. That’s how cows are… and goats and mares, probably especially mares, are. :snoopy: I’ll say soon though!

Things are looking promising. The next thing you will have to learn about is watching for BP to come into heat so you can get her rebred. Our MinnieCow looks to be coming into season. She calved 3 weeks ago.We will let her come around once more and breed her then. If you get a bull, you could train him up as an oxen to work around the place. You don’t need 2, they can work alone in yoke or harness.

Nannette Turner says:
Her udder swells with colostrum, her vulva engorges with blood, her sides will sink in front of her thurls, there may be some mucous coming out of her vulva. She’ll get fidgity and look for a place to calve. When her udder is full, she’s about 3-7 days from calving, although some cows or heifers won’t show any freshening until the day they are about to calve. When her sides sink in, she’s 1-3 days from calving. When there is discharge from her vulva, she’s less than a day away from calving. When you see that water bag, she’s in labor and it’s just a matter of minutes.
Based on this I say some time tomorrow. Check on her regular! Carry you camera all the time & video tape it.
I had the opportunity to see a cow birthed when I was younger. It is an awesome experience.
