The Cat Under the House

I have some cats that live in the barn, and some cats that sometimes come in the house and like to hang out in the cellar. Squiggles was supposed to live in the barn, but he had other ideas.

He moved under the house.

He made this decision fairly soon after we moved here. I tried taking him back to the barn a few times but he would have none of it. He is the cat under the house. There are crawl spaces under there, and he set up an apartment.

Because he spends almost all of his time under the house, and seems to only come out early in the morning or at night to eat, the kids frequently ask me if he’s dead.

Proof of life! And tongue…..

He IS a black cat – he is going to be a man of mystery. He will go he own way. And as you have all you cat neutered maybe he wants a bachelor pad instead of the dorm life of the barn. I bet he is up to more than you know – bet he does his thing at night.

That should help keep mice out of the house. Perhaps Squiggles realized there was a job to be done there, and he was just the man, er, cat for the job.

It’s great to have a cat living under your house – he’ll take care of all the mice before they get in your house.

I was thinking mouse eliminating also. Seems he has a mind of his own.

Squiggles certainly looks to be a healthy weight and his coat is nice and shiny. Since you were able to be near him and take pictures, he has not become anti-social. Squiggles is just dancing to a different drummer.

I wouldn’t mind have a cat around to keep the mice at bay around here 😉

On barn cats – an animal shelter in my county is advertising barn cats for adoption. I thought that was interesting. I’m assuming they also have inside cats too. Mostly they advertise their dogs. I visited the other day to look at a dog that was posted to FB. Now I dream about those dogs in the shelter… not a good thing.
