The Slanted Little House in Early Spring

The old farmhouse, playing peekaboo behind some flowers growing around a tree in the yard. There are always lots of little flowers scattered in the grass in the spring, too.

I love them.

Suzanne, I love those little pinkish white flowers in the grass, too. They are Spring Beauties (Claytonia virginica). I have read that they will not grow where chemicals have been used. I suspect previous owner used them here in this front lawn for I have tried for years to get them going here. There were maybe 20 blooming this year. They are often found around old houses. The historic Henry Clay estate, Ashlawn, here in town has the yard full and over flowing. I love the old Slanted Little House. It reminds me of one my great aunt and uncle lived in.

What is behind the small windows at the top? Is that an upper room or attic?

Spring is decorating the yard of the old farmhouse beautifully. We have the Spring Beauties in our woods and I love them too. I must go and see them! The old farmhouse looks very content surrounded by flowers :happyflower:

Everything looks very green. I like the color of the roof too. :happypuppy:

All the Slanted Little House needs is a family to come live there!! I will selflessly volunteer. Is there a clothesline in the yard somewhere, Suzanne? Some sunny spot where the breeze will scent the sheets and make them smell like heaven when you put them on the bed.
Oh for a house just like this!!! You can have your fine city MMcMansions (Dallas is FULL of them), your townhouses and apartments. give me a home just like this one!

  9. Cindy says:

What a beautiful reward after a long winter. When may I move in?

  10. Linda in New Mexico says:

This little house just screams happy house. Yes, I know cold in winter but in the spring, pictured like this….too wondeful. I know that there are so many of us our here just reading not commenting who feel like you and yours are our family so I would like to wish you a Happy Sisterfriend’s Day, my country sista.

  11. Lynn says:

The slanted little house reminds me of my current house! I live in an old tired house in the woods which is in the process of renovation. I keep hoping maybe one day a big, brand new house will just magically appear on my property, and then we can take our time with our old tired house renovation! Oh well, i can dream, cant I? Thanks for the spring photos!

Love the little flowers…we have them too, btu I didn’t have a name for them….”Spring Beauties”-how aptly named. We also have wild violets (both white ones and purple ones), small yellow flowers amidst a whole sea of green leaves, and a sort of spotted yellow flower, small, that sort of “bleeds” from the stem when you pick it. I used to know the name….
