Yesterday, I put Morgan on a plane to Texas. When she comes back, she will be a high school senior. Hard to believe. She’s grown up enough already, though, to handle all kinds of connection trouble with her flight. Her flight out of Charleston was delayed. Then delayed again. She missed her connection, missed a second connection, then finally made a third. One airline employee in Atlanta, where she was making her connection, thought she was so grown up, they tried to put her up in a hotel overnight until another employee had the foresight to ask how old she was. You have to be 18 to be put up in a hotel. They finally managed to get her on a flight and she’s where she’s supposed to be now. Most people would find this all very frustrating, but I think Morgan actually enjoyed maneuvering herself through her connection obstacle course on her own. She likes to be grown up. (Sigh!)
Meanwhile, LauraP, who is co-teaching this week’s upcoming workshops with me, arrived. She’s staying in Morgan’s room. Morgan got it all cleaned up for her, which means this is the only time it’s been clean all year. Morgan likes to leave little instructional notes for guests in her room and in her bathroom. “The washcloths are in this drawer.” “You can read any of the books on my shelves, but don’t read the books stacked on the floor.” (The ones on the floor, she explained, were her to-be-read piles and she doesn’t want anyone messing with her system.)
About this week–starting tomorrow, Thursday, there will be five days straight of workshops here. This retreat includes two days of cheesemaking, one day of baking, and two days of soap and herbals. I will update every day here on the Daily Farm page and share the fun! And yes, I HAVE WATER BACK!!!!
