It’s a snow-land here today and the goats don’t want to come out of their house.

I don’t blame them. I wish I didn’t have to go out in it either! Fortunately, yesterday I got the goat pen set up as a temporary milking parlor so I don’t have to milk BP outside the pen in the falling snow now.

This is my car this morning. The snow had been cleaned off it yesterday afternoon so this is all fresh from overnight, and it continues to snow today.

Weston is staying with friends in town and Morgan is staying with my cousin–so they can get to school. I’m staying here to take care of animals in the snow and bake cookies and make soap and cheese.

Not a bad deal. I don’t wanna go to school!

I’m glad you don’t have to drive out on those roads in weather like that.

So nice the kids have adopted families 😆

It’s snowing just like that up here…I don’t want to go out, but the swap presents MUST go in the mail today 😀

The first snow always is so pretty and I enjoy getting out in it and taking care of my animals. By February I am so over it and just ready for Spring! Enjoy your Snow Day Suzanne.

Suzanne, glad you get a snow day and don’t have to travel any farther than the goat pen.We had snow on Saturday, which is really early for central NC. The perfect kind of snow that didn’t stick to the roads and keep everyone. Not much snow left today so I guess I have no excuse not to go to class today.
The prettiest site yesterday was the inch or more of snow piled ever so tall on top of the clothes line. Very delicate balancing act.

Good for you for having back-up plans for your kids getting to school. And lucky you and your animals get to stay home!!!

It is so pretty to look at. I have never learned to appreciate snow living on the central coast of California. If we get anything at all, it is a few flakes that we really have to search foras they are falling. Nothing ever sticks.
Um, I am happy about that though!

I’m happy that the goats and everyone else have shelter from the storms. I always feel really sad when I see horses standing out in cold/snowy weather, their backs covered with snow. I’ve been told that it doesn’t bother them, they turn their butts to the wind and they’re fine with it, but it still breaks my heart to see it.
Have a fun snow day Suzanne, I know you’ll be productive! You have more energy and motivation than anyone I know!

I am jealous!! I love snow and especially getting snowed in at home! We dont get much of that here in the piedmont of NC>

You lucky duck! We have NO SNOW here in Missouri…and I want some, BAD!!!! I’m glad your kids are all squared away in town; I imagine it’s very peaceful with the animals and your warm kitchen. Wish I could join you!

Oh Suzanne, that snow is just beautiful,I have never seen snow you know, living in Africa it is not likely I will ever see it unless I go overseas! Just lovely!

  12. Elaine S. says:

Your pictures showing the snow are beautiful! I’m glad you have plans in place to deal with the logistical issues, though.

  13. Bev says:

Suzanne, I do not envy you with your snow. I hate snow!!! I have lived in Mont. Idaho, and Colorado. Transplanted to the Central Coast of California and loved loved loved it!!! wished I was there now instead of Colorado!!! :hissyfit:

I love a snowy WV day! I wish I lived a little farther out to enjoy it more. (I’m in South Charleston.)

Question about soap making: do I need to use special pots to make soap? I bought a kit at Michael’s because I’ve never done this before, and I was hoping the kit would be fool-proof. How hard is making soap?

    Thanks!

We don’t have any snow yet, but it was 18 here this morning and we have no heat in our old farmhouse. No water either when it is this cold! We’re covering up holes and adding insulation as fast as we can to be able to add some heat from the fireplaces. I’d rather do without electricity than without water any day!

Ya know, it’s funny . . . I’m 55 years old, but when it snows I feel like I’m 10 years old and waiting for a snow day to be called. I guess you never quite outgrow that feeling – that feeling of “It’s snowing and I want to stay home and be warm and cozy and NOT have to go to school and be a big girl!” Hope your day was as warm and snuzzly as it sounded like you wanted it to be!

  17. Luann says:

We were having a few flurries in NJ this evening, nothing much to speak of tho….

  18. Deni says:

Suzanne, that sounds like a perfect day to me! It’s snowing like crazy here in central Ohio. Unfortunately I do have to go out later, but since when it snows around here the snow flakes completely suck all memory of how to drive out of peoples brains, so I will wait till much later!
