A Porch Is Born

I wonder….. What memories will this porch someday hold? It will most certainly see pink and orange sunrises. Soft snowfalls over the hills. Wild rainstorms pounding on its roof. Wind surrounding it, sometimes with gentle rustling, sometimes with frightening force. Deer peeking from the woods. Summer barbeques. Christmas lights. Cats tiptoeing on its bannisters, napping on its boards.

Maybe it will also see children’s weddings. Grandchildren’s tiny toes. Struggles. Joys. Love? Who will walk on this porch? What will it see? What secrets will it know that no one else will know?

I wonder….

A new porch’s first memory: 16, helping to build it.

A good start.

I got a little lump in my throat reading that. What a wonderful life you are creating for yourself. One day I am coming to visit… (so you might want to start living under an assumed name… Ms Most Famous Romance Writer in West Virginia)

  2. Kim A. says:

This is so wonderful, Suzanne. Your porch–and house–will have many stories to tell in the future. 🙂

I like Biddy’s idea of coming to visit. You could host a retreat. Heh heh.

How cool to have your kids be a part of the actual building of the farmhouse. If that porch could talk…

It’s easy to see why you are a writer. You make building a porch such a story, we are anxiously awaiting the next excerpt. :hungry: I can tell that the porch is going to be one of the hearts of the house. Don’t be surprised if a bunch of us fans find our way to the home of Wild and Beautiful West Virginia’s most famous Romance Writer. I think it’s great that the kids are helping build the house. You must be so proud of them. Take care and have a great day. to all.

I agree, I think a lot of your devoted fans are going to find their way down there to sit & rock on your porch, sipping sweet tea. I think that’s wonderful that 16 will someday be able to tell the story of helping to build that porch. I feel obliged to mention, however, that he seems to be missing the requisite tool belt. He needs his very own tool belt.

Aww, and that’s why you’re a writer. Because I could see all you described.
WTG 16!! Every time he sees that house, he’ll remember helping to build that porch.

    Have a wonderful day!
