I’m in Detroit! (Or if you’re reading this in the morning, I’m on my way.) I’m teaching a writing workshop (12 Easy Steps to Breaking In) for Greater Detroit Romance Writers. I’m also teaching a couple of online classes coming up–Deconstructing Emotion (another writing workshop) and Color Me Blogging. I mention the online classes in particular in case any of you who are bloggers are interested in signing up for the blogging class, which is suitable for writers and non-writers alike. If you want to hear me go on and on about my thoughts, tips, and techniques regarding the art of blogging, you can sign up here. The workshop is being offered through a romance writers group, but non-members can take classes for a small extra fee. (If you’ve never taken an online class, the lessons are conducted via email.)
I rarely teach on-location classes anymore because I can’t stand plane trips, and also because nowadays it’s very difficult for me to go anywhere at all as it means so many arrangements for animals, kids, etc, in my absence. This workshop in Detroit was arranged over a year ago, before we even moved to the farm. Before I knew how much I would miss Clover. And Coco. And Annabelle.
And even Mean Rooster.
It’s a quick trip. Two plane flights there, one workshop, one night at a hotel, two plane flights back. I shan’t even have time to paint the town red. And you know I’d do that.
Us farmgirls are wild when we get out of the holler.
Maybe I can find time to paint it a little pink. Maybe a nice magenta……

Suzanne,
I love the thought of adding a blog to my site (or I should say making a better site with blogging and photos). I have a very basic site for my church but would really like to improve it:
https://bentonsferryumc.shutterfly.com/
Am I correct that “Color me Blogging” is an e-mail type course and not actually live?
Bev
P.S. Love the blog. I have read it every day since I heard you on public radio!

Have a great time and enjoy the one night in the hotel…
I am EXACTLY the same way about leaving home..Everyday it is getting harder and harder for me to go to work and leave it all behind for the day. I really need to come up with a way to make a living from my own 10 acres.
Have a great time!!!

i know I am asking a question that is none of my business. I so enjoy your blog and the life you have mapped out for yourself. With 3 children it has to cost a lot to have done what you did. I have one child and would love to live life the way you do. Did you get an inheritance? Or maybe win a small lottery? I have just always been so interested and had hoped to get hints as to how you do this as I read your blog. Any ideas for me?
Thanks!
