I stumbled across these photographs from last spring as I was searching through my picture files for something to go with my column on Monday for the Charleston Daily Mail.
My heart fell into a million painful pieces on this cold and snowy day.
It was as if I had worked so hard, and for so long, to recover from a tormenting loss, and suddenly, unexpectedly, across a crowded room, the people parted and my long-lost lover appeared.
And then the crowd moved again and he was gone. But it was too late. Everything I had done to forget him was destroyed and all I could do was burst into tears and wonder…..
…..if he had ever been real at all.
