Squeal!

Jan

After a 24-hour stint with 12-year-olds, I hear squealing inside my brain. Oh, wait, the 12-year-olds spent the night, they’re still here, that’s it.

Girls. Squeal.

And, ohmygod, do you see that? The signpost? AM I SQUEALING, TOO? Remember when Steve-the-Builder made us a signpost for our new farm for Christmas? He put it in the ground at the end of the driveway by the road. And his adorable wife Londa made us a sign with our address. And decorated it for Valentine’s Day. Could they be more wonderful? It was a surprise for us when we got out there yesterday.

And look, there’s more! DRYWALL!!! It’s starting to look like there are real walls!! (Squeal!)

Princess had her two bestest friends over to celebrate her birthday and spend the night. She had wanted us to be moved into our house by her birthday so she could have her party there. That didn’t happen, so we drove out to the house, brought cupcakes to the builder, and the girls ran around the house. Squealing. Squealing here.

Squealing there.

Squealing, squealing everywhere.

Then back to the old farmhouse for pizza, cupcakes and candles, and presents. And more squealing.

Almost looks exhausting, doesn’t it?

But, doesn’t it kinda make you want to be 12 again? Go ahead, take the time to squeal today. You know you want to.

What the world needs now are squeals, sweet squeals.
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.
What the world needs now are squeals, sweet squeals.
No, not just for some, but for everyone…..

Oh, yes, I recall those days of squealing and shrieking. It’s a wonder my mom’s eardrums didn’t burst. LOL.

Looks like they had a fantastic time (and are still having!), so that’s all that matters. ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW, that’s an *awesome* sign and post. And yeah, I’d be squealing over drywall too!

Say, if you have ear plugs, that might get you through the day. ๐Ÿ˜†

  8. trish says:

They squeal at 13 too. And I’m afraid I’ll probably keep hearing them squeal until she moves out of the house. And then I’ll miss it.

Boys, on the other hand, don’t squeal. But they are much louder!

  9. catslady says:

I can hear it from here ๐Ÿ™‚ Having had 2 girls I too remember it well. When the 3 of us get together even now you hear some squeals. Looks like Princess had a nice birthday with her friends :birthday2: Love the pics and even you street address seems like a lucky number

They squeal as college students too…I’m going to try to squeal at least once today. Maybe when I get the laundry done? :birthday1:

  13. Gena says:

    Hi Suzanne,

I just found your website a few days ago and I’ve been jealously reading it. My husband is from West Virginia (not too far from where you live). We’re planning to move there but it’s going to be about four years before everything lines up and we can make the move. I have to finish graduate school and then we’ll be on our way. I spend my spare time searching for land for sale in WV and daydreaming about our farm. By the way, yesterday I saw a cafe in Spencer for sale…would that be the one with the fried bologna sandwiches?

Keep writing ’cause you’re feeding my dreams!

  14. Tori Lennox says:

    I’m sure I never squealed THAT much when I was 12. *g*

  15. Estella says:

Maybe I’ll try squealing today. It has been a lot of years!

PS How’s my moon get up to your place?????

  18. Karen says:

I am the oldest of 6 girls, that’s right 6 girls no brothers. My three year old daughter is squealing already and I now understand why my dad wore earplugs around the house. I have considered it myself.

  19. kaye says:

Say Happy Birthday to 12! Looks like she had a marvelous, simply marvelous time! Being 12 is fun.

    (You are up so early)

  20. Renna says:

I started to say that I can’t remember the last time I really “squealed”, then I suddenly remembered, it was Christmas Eve morning when my 23yod made a surprise visit home from across the country. She said I squealed so loudly when I saw her that windows shattered and neighborhood dogs all howled. It felt good to squeal.

Your daughter and her friends are quite the cuties, and I love your sign. That Steve the Builder and his wife Londa are something else!

  21. Becky says:

I so wanna have a slumber party again! I don’t think I have enough energy. I would probably fall asleep and the rest of the girls would go to town playing pranks. Except all my friends are old and tired like me.

Shit, maybe I just want to be 12 again! Happy Birthday, Princess! :birthday2:
