The Graduate

For the first time in a long time (since this new county high school opened, 13 years ago), there was a nice enough day for graduation to be held outside, in the football stadium. There was a crowd.

Weston, on the left in this photo, doing the perp walk.

He was wearing his honors sash (for those graduating with a 3.75 GPA or above) and his National Honor Society medal.

The show on the field:

The girlfriend was there with the band. She plays the flute.

They each had their little moment.

Then high school was officially over.

They always tell them they aren’t allowed to throw their caps. They’re pretty well-behaved, because mostly they don’t.

Notice the plastic fork.

There was cake, people!

Then he changed hats and she changed clothes and–

–he took her off to Texas with him because I’m tellin’ ya, these two canNOT be separated. I don’t know how they are going to bear it when he goes to college! She is one year behind him then she will be joining him at WVU.

Congrats to Weston on a job well done. You too, Mama. Kids need our support to reach their goals, that’s for sure, and you certainly put in the time! Weston’s girlfriend sure has a sweet smile. What an adventure for them, spending 8 weeks together in Texas! They’ll have so much fun and create some lasting memories…

As I read about Weston’s accomplishments, I think of you Suzanne and wonder how you took photo’s through tears of joy, tears of pride, tears of another son grown and off into the world…It’s a new day for the Momma too! I applaud you Suzanne for a job well done!

Congratulations, Weston AND Mom! You’ve both done a wonderful job. Weston and The Girlfriend look joyous together – I’m glad they’ll have weeks of summer. Your nest isn’t empty, and I have a feeling that you will have a lot of young people visiting on the farm in the coming year.

Congratulations to the graduate, the proud momma and the proud girlfriend. They are an adorable couple.

Wish our school would use the football field or the track for the ceremony. My son is making “I don’t want to go” noises. It is a hot awful experience closed up inside the auditorium they use. Not even the school’s auditorium, this involves travel. And we may have even more of a dilemma, Dad’s graduation may be the same day. Dad will want to go to the boy’s, of course, but if the boy hears about Dad’s, he may push for that. ‘Cause then he won’t have to wear the hot graduate’s gown, now will he?
