Whispers

Summer fades….willing….
IMG_8653-1
….in quiet bursts….unassuming.
IMG_0075
Calm. Cool.
IMG_0076
Autumn slides in….playful….
IMG_0080
….on eager tiptoes….colorful.
IMG_0094
Wild. Bright.
IMG_0086
Summer has been such a sweet soul this year.
IMG_0065
Autumn is young and yet trainable.
IMG_0079
And Summer has much to teach.
IMG_0098
I bring Autumn inside….
IMG_9950
….and introduce her properly to Summer.
IMG_0096
I say to Summer, “Whisper to her of tenderness. Tell Autumn to be gentle, like you.” And then maybe….just maybe…someday…in a few months….
IMG_0114
….Autumn will whisper to Winter, too.

I love this one Suzanne. Truly beautiful.

  2. Sheila Z says:

Is this your way of sweet talking winter into not kicking your butt this year? Good luck with that. Best bet will be to stock up (like you are) then it won’t matter what winter does, you will be prepared for whatever it can through at you. Do you have a generator in case the power goes out for a long period of time? That’s the one thing I think I need to get. Losing the contents of my freezer scares me. It’s full of a years worth of meat and lots of fruit and vegetables right now.

  3. Robin in WV says:

Ah, the soul of a poet! Autumn, my favorite time of the year. I think you must have gotten out of the kitchen for a while.

  4. Sheila Z says:

Whoops above post… Through should have been throw I think. What you get when you post after a couple of hours of sleep. Dangerous with a keyboard and not enough sleep.

  5. Boracay island hotel says:

    beautifull photo’s again.
    i love autumn, and spring
here in holland it is still very green, but the tree in front of my kitchenwindow is starting to grow thinner in leaves, my first sign that summer is leaving.
it is still nice enough to keep our gardendoor open all day long though.

  8. Sheila Z says:

Now that it is 9 AM and a couple of hours of sleep later, how about threw the winter. Is that right? English not any language I can comprehend. Still tired, coffee sipping to commence now. Love your photos!

  9. heidiannie says:

Good morning! Beautiful post. I don’t like changes much- except in the seasons. I like the changeover mode as well- you did a great job capturing it in photos!

Beautiful…and I am so ready for Fall…in the mood! Even though I feel a bit melancholy in the Fall, missing relatives – my step grandmother used to say that and I have to agree.

  14. Gayle says:

The thistley thing is a teasel. Beautiful early autumn photos. Wow! Now…………. I do not know the names of any of your trees. Gawjus!!

  15. .Nancy in Iowa says:

What a beautifully tender post! Thank you for waking me up gently. I, too, love Autumn best; especially October, probably because it is my birth month. I’m anxious to see what Autumn looks like here in my new town in southwest Iowa. :butterfly: :purpleflower:

  16. Box Call says:

Ahh, autumn. I do so love the season. Just like your beautiful poem and pictures, the autumn season is beautiful. I believe Sheila Z. is right….we can’t sweet talk winter…if the Farmer’s Almanac is right it is going to be dandy this year in West Virginia. Climate change, yeah that is what the seasons are all about!

  17. Christy O says:

Fall already? It is still very much summer here. We’re still getting to 90 most days.

  18. Shells says:

What a beautiful welcome to Autumn.

  19. Alexandra says:

Golden autumn, my favourite season. Here in Argentina, however, we´re in SPRING!! :purpleflower: Must enjoy it until our torrid summer shows up. :sun:

  20. Sheila says:

I love spring and summer! I really suffer from SADD…seasonal depression. I know what is coming so I’m soaking in all the sunshine I can. Not laying out cooking in it but doing my daily walk outside not on the treadmill. Just being outside alot.

  21. Oklahoma Granny says:

Melinda at “Mickey and me” mentioned your blog in her post today. I just had to pop over and see what’s going on.
