I baked a pie last week that didn’t work out so good. (Long story.) I gave it to Clover for a sweet reward neither of us had expected.

Clover: “Is good, Woman. Very good.”

She likes me! She really likes me!!! ALL I HAD TO DO ALL ALONG WAS GIVE HER PIE.

*Kitchen Extra: Cinnamon-Vanilla Coffee

I love having my cow in milk again because that’s the only time I use cream in my coffee. Otherwise, I drink it black. I keep jars of vanilla sugar and cinnamon vanilla sugar by my coffee maker. To make vanilla sugars, just split open a vanilla bean and poke it into a jar of sugar or cinnamon sugar. The vanilla goodness will seep into your sugar and it tastes wonderful. You can also do this with brown sugar.

For an autumn treat, make pumpkin pie spice sugar by adding dashes of ginger, nutmeg, and ground cloves to your cinnamon vanilla sugar. Add to your coffee along with cream!

(For a pint-size jar, I use one split bean. For a quart size jar, I use at least two. You can keep replacing the sugar and use the same bean for some time.)

*Farm Bell Recipes: Disappearing Brownies

I couldn’t even take a picture fast enough.

This recipe was posted by rileysmom on Farm Bell Recipes recently and I thought it was intriguing right away by the use of graham cracker crumbs in place of all-purpose flour. When CindyP posted about her experience making them (see her post here), I couldn’t wait any more and I made them that day. Morgan said, “THIS is your new brownie recipe.” And they disappeared so fast, I’m going to start calling them Disappearing Brownies.

How to make Quick Fudge Brownies:

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1 slightly beaten egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Melt one cup of the chocolate chips; stir in graham cracker crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, egg, and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in remaining chocolate chips and nuts. Spread mixture in a well-greased and floured (can flour with baking cocoa) 9 x 9 baking pan. Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 35 minutes. Cool on wire rack; cut into squares.
