First Chapter Sneak Peek

This photo was taken last fall by my “official photographer” (ha) Jerry Waters. I love this picture because it’s so ridiculous, and also really defines my relationship with my livestock. Which is ridiculous. I was feeding Fanta a cookie. From my mouth. Seriously. This is so embarrassing. And yet I post this photo. Repeatedly. So people can laugh at me. I’m a giver!

I wrote about my journey acquiring and learning about livestock in my book, and it will either make people want to run right out and get a cow, or make them run in the other direction, but hopefully it will be entertaining. Because it’s ridiculous. But anyway! I do have a point here. Somewhere!

I will be offering a sneak peak of the first chapter from my book soon. It will be made available via my newsletter. If you’re not signed up for my newsletter, don’t miss it! You can sign up for the Chickens in the Road Newsletter here: Sign up.

After you sign up, take a look at the early reviews on Amazon here: Chickens in the Road: An Adventure in Ordinary Splendor. (Scroll down to see the customer reviews.) Interesting….at least to me!

September 11, 2013 - Everything I Know, I Learned from Cows

I have a new trick I’ve been playing when I milk Glory Bee. I hook on the milking lines then I run back out of the barn to fill her water tubs. This little double-time game where I’m milking and running water at the same time probably saves me a whole five minutes. Sometimes I’m...

September 9, 2013 - Apple Butter Time

Free apples, the best kind. I processed them using my Squeezo. Simmered it all down in two big crock pots. And canned it up! If you’ve never heard of the fabulous Squeezo, it is the best food strainer ever invented. I have a Squeezo tutorial here. These apples came from Morgan’s boyfriend, Justin. He picked...

September 8, 2013 - This Little Goat and Me

Every morning, I walk down to the barn yard and let Maia out the gate. She is always already there, bleating for me, ready to run through as soon as it’s opened. She grazes the yard and gardens during the day, sits on the porch, sometimes takes a rocking chair and other times lays down...
