V-Day!

Today I’m emailing off the PAX online read to the eHarlequin editor and that’s it, I’m free! I’m uncontracted! I’ve written five SIMs and the online read in the past year and a half. I love being a writer! I’m living in the Magic Kingdom! Being uncontracted is always a scary place for a writer, but it’s also a thrilling place full of boundless possibilities. The fear of being uncontracted is, to me, like the fear of strapping into a rollercoaster car. The ride awaits! Anything could be next!! It’s up to me! And if it wasn’t scary–why bother?? That would be like getting on the teacup ride when the Tower of Terror is available. One of the things I Iove most about being a writer is the freedom to chart my destiny with my books. During uncontracted periods, I dream big and write hard. I can write anything I want! No deadlines, no obligations. It’s all about me, baby! I’ve got the run of the park! :guitar:

I still have a bunch of unsold proposals leftover from the last uncontracted period–there are always more that don’t sell than that do–but I’m not interested in those anymore. I loved them at the time but they don’t fit me now. I’ve fallen in love with writing paranormal romantic suspense, so that’s all I’ll be writing this go-round. Two-headed vampires and rehydrated mummies, here I come! Okay, okay, not exactly, but whatever I write, it will be as different as the PAX League (and there may even be more PAX League books, I don’t know yet–it’s a “neverending” series, so that potential exists). But I’ll also be writing a lot of non-PAX ideas that are off-the-wall and challenging, that make me laugh and make my pulse pound from the danger.

I’m free! I’m in the Tower of Terror line! And I can’t wait to strap in.
