Home! Buttercup was glad to see his door-opener. I was glad to see the school bus. And my bed. And my TV. And my high speed internet. And roads that don’t twist like pretzels.

What do you miss most when you’re away from home?

(Does being home mean I’m supposed to do something useful today?)

  1. Cheryl S. says:

Welcome home, Suzanne! I’m like you . . .when I’m away from home, I miss my tv and my own bed.

  2. Leanna says:

Welcome back, Suzanne! Loved all the pics of the old homestead. Very poignant for me to see your dad happily seeing it all. My dad is too sick now to do those things.

When I’m away from home, I miss my routine. But I usually don’t want to come home. I always love the places I visit and want to move in.

  3. Peggy says:

Welcome back, Suzanne! Enjoyed your pictures and descriptions of the holler. Wish I knew someone who lived there I could visit too!

What would I miss most? Probably my bathroom, my bed, my fridge I can raid freely, my cupboards I can raid freely, my office, my computer, my pooches (cause no way would I take them), my children (cause no way would I take them,)

  4. Sandy J says:

I miss…everything! When I am home, I want to be traveling. When I am traveling, I want to be home. Can’t be satisfied, I guess,

  5. Katie says:

    Useful? Yes! Pet your kitty!

  6. ArmyWifeToddlerMom says:

Glad you had a great trip!!

When I get home from travels, I always take a hot bath, and climb into my OWN bed…

  7. Mik says:

I miss my OWN bed and pillow. It’s always fun to go away, but there’s nothing like that sigh of relief when you walk through your front door.

    Hug that kitty for me!

  8. Eve says:

Hmmmm, since it’s been 6 years since I’ve had a vaction away from home and mother, I’ll have to think way back. I know I miss my bed, my four-legged meowers, and my books (I seem to always want the one I didn’t bring with me). I used to be away a lot since my pre-Alzheimer’s profession was house/pet sitter – I’d move into a person’s home while they were gone. Stayed in some great places!
Suzanne – do you get the comic strip B.C.? If not, get a copy of today’s strip – it’s really, really perfect for you!

  9. Cherlyn says:

When I traveled with my company, I stayed in hotels. Nice hotels. But no mater how nice the hotel, nothing was like my own bed and pillows at home.

  10. Estella Kissell says:

I miss my bed most. Useful??? Aren’t you supposed to relax and recover from your vacation when you get home???:wigglebrow:

  11. Toni Anderson says:

    I miss my bed.

Or sometimes home is my parent’s house and I miss my huge family and all the familiar things there πŸ™‚

  12. Danni says:

I miss my potty. Can’t really relax in the shower or toilet on vacation. I dunno why.

And whew, what a handsome kid! When he’s all done growing I bet he’s romance material! Those lips! πŸ˜‰

  13. Melissa Marsh says:

Welcome home, Suzanna! Glad you had a good trip and made it back safe and sound!
I think I probably miss my king-sized bed the most. And when I stay at my mom’s, I miss my air conditioning.

  14. Mary says:

My closet and bathroom. I also miss my computer and friends.

  15. mary beth says:

    Welcome home!
I miss my bed and my refrigerator. I get so tired of eating out or eating sandwiches. πŸ™‚

  16. Kelly says:

I miss the comfort of home. Does that make sense? Not just one thing, but everything together that feels familiar. πŸ˜€

  17. Lynn Daniels says:

The thing I miss when I’m away from home is having a place of my own. Having my things around me.

    Welcome home!

  18. Jill says:

    I always miss my bed!

  19. Amy K. says:

My bed and my bathtub with jets.

  20. Rene says:

Welcome back, Suzanne. Loved the pictures of the holler.

Without a doubt the thing I miss the most is my satellite dish and t.v. Not that I watch that much, but there is a certain comfort of knowing the channels and schedules. How sick is that? Home is where my t.v. is?

  21. Melissa says:

 Glad you’re back safe and sound, Suz.

When I’m away I miss my cat so much I have to call home every night and hear him meow into the phone.

We both suffer from seperation anxiety.

  22. Jennifer says:

You just returned from vacation with kids and an 80 year old man. You are supposed to now take two weeks to recover from this vacation. Throw yourself on the couch with an arm across your forehead and sigh deeply. Make the kids refill your ice tea and turn the pages while you read until you are well rested. 😈

  23. Tori says:

My bed, my books, my TV. πŸ™‚

  24. Marcy says:

    Welcome Home, Suzanne!

I miss my bed and computer. And just the normalcy of my own little world. πŸ™‚

  25. Mary Stella says:

When I’m away from home for any length of time, I miss the serenity of my back porch. I miss sitting outside in the cool breeze while the water gently slaps the sea wall and the sunset paints the view in broad pastel strokes.

  26. Jordan says:

I always miss our bed and the quiet.

  27. Lori says:

Welcome back. I am always so happy to sleep in my own bed. But I love to go – just a gypsy at heart.

  28. Lis says:

    Welcome back!

Definitely miss my bed and my computer. Oh and my music!

  29. Gina says:

    Welcome back!

I’d have to agree with my bed and the computer. My cats too if they didn’t come with me.

  30. Danica says:

Welcome home! I always miss my bed!

  31. Michelle says:

You’re supposed to relax and enjoy being home. πŸ™‚

  32. Shelly says:

I’m ashamed to say the thing I miss most is the internet. I could go months without TV, but take away the ‘connection’ and it’s just not pretty….

  33. Carol Burnside says:

I miss my pillows. I like having my own pillows. πŸ™‚

How did you ever manage to wake up this morning without THE DAMN ROOSTER?

Gotta go do my affirmations before somebody :whip:!

  34. Mechele Armstrong says:

    Welcome back!

I always miss my pillow and bed the most. And vegitating can be useful. Makes the brain re-engage.

  35. Melissa Mc says:

    I miss my three kitties!

  36. ruby55 says:

Though I love travelling, I miss my bed most. For years I had trouble sleeping anywhere except my own bed. I could be on a plane for 8 hours and still not sleep.

Since I’m chronically fatigued, I tend to fall asleep at the drop of an eyelid. Don’t know how often I’ve woken up by fallng off seats in the last couple of years. My dentist looked at my arms yesterday and asked where I’d gotten all my colorful bruises.

The other things I’ve always missed are my books and now my computer. Sniff! I don’t run to laptops–just slow PCs.
