L to R:

1) creek water
2) mud water
3) sink water
4) bubble water

For some mysterious reason, my little angel decided to perform an experiment on cut daffodils. What kind of water would a cut daffodil stay fresh in longest? We’ll find the answer on Monday–make your guess, and from among the correct answers, one comment number will be chosen at random to win their autographed pick from my contemporary backlist! (She’s weird, isn’t she??)

  1. Fannie M Wiggins says:

Now Suz, she just has an inquiring mind. I am sure you never did anything like that. By the way, to have a completely scientific experiment, there should be a container of beer. At least that’s what my son told me when he did his experiment when he was that age. Didn’t happen. I think his stayed fresher in Creek water. That’s my guess anyway. Have a great week-end.

  2. Jill says:

I’m just jealous you have flowers and NOT MORE FREAKING SNOW. Ahem, sorry, temporary insanity due to prolonged winter!

  3. Carol says:

This is interesting. I’m guessing creek water, too.

  4. marelou says:

I’d like to know the answer to this one myself. I like fresh flowers and the longer I can keep them, the better. Mud water will probably have probably give creek water a run for the money but I think I’ll go with creek water.

  5. Angie says:

My guess is no difference between the creek water and sink water.
My son did a similar experiment with cut flowers putting a penny in one vase to see if it made a difference. I don’t remember now if it did…….:???:

  6. Marcy says:

I’ll go with mud water. LOL

She sounds like a budding scientist, Suzanne.

  7. Cheryl S. says:

I’m going with the mud water. 🙂

  8. Alessia says:

    I’ll go with mud water.

  9. Melissa says:

    I say 3)sink water.

  10. Minna says:

    creek water.
Here in Finland we still have plenty of snow, but in one town they already decided to decorate the place with daffodils. They said that daffodils are supposed to survive in pretty low temperatures, even -15C(it still is pretty cold at night), but it still seemed a bit strange with all that snow…

  11. Jennifer Yates says:

Interesting experiment…my first instinct was to say no difference between sink and creek water.

But if I have to choose one I think I will go with creek water. This is hard…I am not good at these type of giveaways. LOL

  12. Cynthia says:

Hmmm….I’ll go with creek water, too. 🙂

  13. Sue C says:

    I’ll go with mud water.

    Sue

  14. ruby55 says:

Actually, I think she’s very smart. It’s a great idea. She’s been doing some ecological thinking.

Hmm. Mine isn’t that clear. It’s a conundrum. There seem too many cons for each one. I’ll be different, though it was my least likely choice: bubbly water. I’m wondering what the bubbles consist of.

Creek does seem to be the most logical. Mud might plug some of the cells or whatever that take in the water. Sink water, depending on where yours comes from, may have too many chemicals.

Yeah, I’ll go for bubbly. Somebody has to support the underdog.

  15. ruby55 says:

P.S. I know I’m left-right challenged. Ahem, failed one driver’s test because of it. However, it seems to me that you’ve got either the picture or the legend reversed. Am I right or is it just my “challenge”?:loser:(me)

  16. Suzanne says:

Ruby, it’s L to R–(as pictured) creek water, mud water, sink water, bubble water. The bubble water is in the glass bottle.

  17. catslady says:

I have a question – what kind of bubbles??? if you mean like sprite or soda I vote for that. if you mean like bubble soap noooooooooooo lol. then I’ll go for the creek water 🙂

  18. Jennifer Yates says:

Hmm…do you think the size of the stems is going to affect the results? They are all different sizes…maybe I am analyzing too much. :rotfl:

  19. Fannie M Wiggins says:

Hey Suz, does your sink water look like that? It sure looks more like mud water to me. If it is sink water, I’m thinking you have an enormous bottled water bill. I’m sorry but there is no way I would drink it.:yuck: I’m sticking with my creek water choice.

  20. Jennifer Yates says:

:rotfl: I was thinking the same thing Fannie about the water!

  21. Joyce says:

I’ll go with creek water. I know they put all sorts of additives in tap water.

  22. Suzanne says:

I think that is the shadow making the sink water look so bad, LOL. (Though it IS from a well and I do NOT drink it!!) Re the bubble water, it is the kind of bubble water that you blow bubbles with.

  23. Robyn says:

    Creek water

  24. Lis says:

Ah see, first I was gonna say bubble water till I read what it was. Hmmm, going to go with 1) creek water. Tempted by sink water, but go with #1

  25. Maureen says:

What a cute experiment. I love the bubble water idea but I have to go with sink water as my daughter works at a florist after school and when she brings flowers home she always goes for plain old tap water.

  26. Laurie says:

    Morgan, Great idea!
Wonderful, beautiful daffodils just in time for your birthday Suzanne!
It’s a toss up for me creek/sink…guess I’ll go with sink just to even it out a bit!

  27. Estella Kissell says:

She sounds like a very intelligent girl! I’ll go with creek water.

  28. KimW says:

I’m going to guess sink water.

  29. Ashley says:

I’d say creek water as well. Pretty flowers, though!

  30. Peggie says:

I’ll go with creek water, Although if the sink water comes from a well there probably isn’t much difference.:???:

  31. Emma N. S. says:

Hi Suzanne. I’ll go with sink water. Thanks for having the contest.

  32. TeresaH says:

What a fun experiment! I’ll go for the creek water too.
