What could be better than a contest involving food?:bananadance:

Three Cheese-Jalapeno Swirl Bread

For the dough: combine 1 cup flour, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1 pkg yeast, 1 cup warm water, and 1 tbsp olive oil. Stir, then add another 1-1/2 to 2 cups flour and knead into a good dough, then set to rise in an oiled bowl.

For the filling: combine 1 tsp dry parsley, 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella, 1/4 cup shredded cheddar, 1/4 cup shredded parmesan, 3 tbsp minced jalapeno, 3 tbsp minced onion, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 1/8 tsp pepper.

Punch down down; roll out into a rectangle and spread on the filling, then roll it up, seal the ends, and set it in an oiled bread pan to rise. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes one loaf. Yum!

For today’s contest–tell me the name of your favorite recipe! I’ll have each of my kids choose one recipe for me to cook. I’ll have them each choose a different category of recipe–one can choose a main dish, one can choose a side dish, and one can choose a dessert. You, however, must only post one recipe name from one category!:hyper: So pick your category, post a comment with the name of the recipe (and be clear about which category it falls into), and three winners will be chosen on Monday to receive their autographed pick from my contemporary backlist! If you win, you’ll have to email me the recipe and I’ll cook the winning dishes for my kids and post photos and your recipes! And this might be so fun we’ll have to do it again! Make sense? Just to be clear:

Post your comment with 1) category of recipe (main dish, side dish, or dessert), and 2) the name of the recipe (make this sound appealing to teenage boys, LOL). Oh–and my kids are NOT picky eaters, so don’t worry about things they won’t like. They’ll eat just about anything! They’re like pigs at a trough…..

Hmm. I’m trying to think of what kidlets might like.

    Maybe a main dish:

Diet Coke Chicken (I don’t know if that’s the original name but it’s one of my favorite chicken recipes). Do I make it? Uh, no. I’m a lousy cook and for one person?? Well, maybe I will try it one of these days. I suppose I could always freeze some.

I also have some yummy desert recipes. So I’m not against this type of contest. It’s guessing that I’m not good at.

And you’re coming to T.O. on my sister’s birthday, July 8? Too bad she hasn’t lived there for the last 20 years. But it’s on the way. However, I’d have to pay for your class, though, wouldn’t I? I don’t mind attending but I’m not a writer and just want to meet you. We’ll have to see if anybody I know will be going down there at that time. It takes about 2 hours from here.
