Ocracoke Island!

Jun

We’re off on our mini-vacation to Ocracoke Island, North Carolina–home of the Outer Banks’ oldest working lighthouse, wild ponies descended from horses that survived a shipwreck hundreds of years ago, pirate legend and lore, a quaint village, and miles of pristine sand! Ocracoke Island is the southernmost tip of the Outer Banks and is accessible only by ferry. We’ll be driving to Cedar Island then putting ourselves and our 4-wheel-drive on a two-hour ferry ride to the narrow, 16-mile-long barrier island. It’s small and secluded, part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, so all the beaches are undeveloped. My daughter is particularly looking forward to the wild horses and the ferry. I’m looking forward to the seafood and hours of reading books under our beach awning. I’ll be back and blogging, with pictures, Friday morning! 😆

So, we’re off! And don’t forget–“Extravasuzannza” starts June 27th. Two weeks of fun and prizes to celebrate the release of The Beast Within! Don’t miss it!

You and I both, Danica, seem to be “jealous”. I love seeing “the oldest” things, among others and I’d love to see the horses too. I read a novel set here a few years back. It sounded wonderful. So I hope you and your family have a very enjoyable time and let us share in it vicariously through your pictures, Suzanne. Hope you have great weather and heaps of fun.
