Summer, What Summer?

Apple tree, hanging with fruit…..

WHERE did the summer go? My kids do sports, and that means there is almost no summer. 14 was in football camp at nearly the end of June, and now he’s starting freshman football practice (at the HIGH SCHOOL!!!! how did THAT happen??? is he not still TWO??) at the end of July.

Meanwhile, 16 (WHY can’t he DRIVE????? he doesn’t UNDERSTAND!!) starts golf practice at the same time.

On TV, they are already talking about school supplies. I don’t wanna hear about school supplies! Make it stop!!!

Summers are so short and fleeting. My son had one week football camp. At the same time, his older sister was at Girls State. The yougest daughter was in dance tryouts. Then she was in summer school. Next week, the 17 year old is off to cheerleading camp. With work and building a new house, it has been a rapid summer. However, last night, I saw Live and Collective Soul at an outdoor concert. It was wonderful.

    Congrats, Karen B!

(((Suzanne))) It seems like summer only started yesterday and now we’re nearing August. 😮

  3. Susan says:

I have no idea where it went, but it sure flew by! :hissyfit: Your apples look yummy. :hungry:

  4. Kim says:

Congrats from me too, Karen B. 🙂

I don’t know where summer is going. I work at our local university, and while not in an academic department, I was thinking just yesterday that the students soon will be descending upon the campus, en masse. And it’ll be Frosh Week….Then it’ll be Thanksgiving, then Christmas…Okay, let’s not go there.

Time should seem to slow down as you get older, so you can savour the days. Not move at warp speed!

  5. Marianne says:

Ooh…your apples are bigger than mine. I have apple envy (but, on the bright side, I also have apples for the first time!).

Summer… I love it, and here in the NE it’s far too short. My Californian blood misses enternal summer…

  6. Tori Lennox says:

I’d love to know why the older I get the faster the time flies. It’s so not fair!

  7. Karen B says:

:flying: I won yesterday – thanks so much! I’m retired and find that the days seem to go slow but the weeks fly by and whatever happen to June? Doing the rain dance again – it worked yesterday!

  8. Ellen says:

    The apples are cool.

The worst part about having kids is that they grow so fast. Each new school year arrives sooner than the last. Argh!

  9. Maureen says:

The summer is going quickly. I was in Wal-Mart today and there are school supplies all through the store.

  10. Crystal B. says:

Time does seem to fly. Great picture of the apples.

  11. Minna says:

The apples look great! There were some flowers in our apple trees, but there don’t seem to be any apples.

  12. Stefanie says:

You’re right Suzanne, time does fly. It’s almost August and before you know, school starts again! I want some real summer!!! Anyway, next week I’ll be in France. So I’ll be able to enjoy summer with a good glass of wine. :friday:
Oh and Karen B, congrats!! :butterfly:

  13. kacey says:

Where DID the summer go?? It seemed to fly by faster than ever this year.

  14. diane says:

Love your apple trees. Luscious. Summer is my favorite time of year.

  15. leanne says:

It seems the older you get the quicker summer goes. At least my baby girl is only 1 so I have a few more years to enjoy with her before I have to start with the school routine. :hissyfit: That will be a sad first day. Those apples look great Suzanne!!!! Good enough for a good apple pie for dinner. Hope you don’t get too razzled between now and the end of Aug., where then you’ll hopefully get a bit of a break. Hope everyone is having a great day today.

  16. anne says:

Lucky you. Such beautiful apples. Summer here has been hot but gorgeous.

  17. Lis says:

    Yummy looking apples :hungry:
Summer’s going way too fast. I’m just hoping the nice weather sticks around a lot longer than the middle of September

  18. Brandy says:

    Congratulations Karen B!

    The apples look wonderful!

I am ready for summer to be over, it’s too hot here. And besides, since I homeschool, we don’t take the summer off.
Hub’s favorite commercial was an office supply store from a few years ago. The Dad was going down the aisles skipping with the shopping cart with the kids dragging behind him and the song “It’s the Most wonderful time of the year” was playing in the back ground.

    Have a good day!

  19. ruth says:

Summer is a time to relax and reflect. I make the most of it. The apples are tempting.

  20. ellie says:

I wish that summer could last forever. The sun, heat and travel is the best there could be. Great apple trees.

  21. pearl says:

Love your garden and now your wonderful apple tree. I wait for summer and then I relish everyday of it.

  22. Dru says:

    Congrats Karen B.

I’m not a summer person..give me Spring or Fall and I’m happy.

    Nice apples.

  23. Shari C says:

Summer is going way too fast…I have too many items on my list to get done yet. Maybe my problem is I want to play and enjoy all these beautiful and sunny days instead of getting chores done around the house.

Ohhh, Stephanie’s book sounds soooo mysterious. Please enter me in the drawing.

Those apples look good to me!

  24. Alice Audrey says:

I don’t care what you say. It’s over 100 degrees here. It’s still summer and doesn’t look to be letting up anytime soon.

  25. Marty says:

I saw the first back-to-school commercial yesterday. Which depresses me as an adult, becuase we don’t get to go back-to-anything shopping once we’re grown folk. Yes, we can shop any time, but it’s not the same…not even a little…

  26. KimW says:

They do grow up fast and time flies! I want the summer to last a while longer so I can get in a few more beach days.

  27. sharon says:

There is so much to enjoy during the summer. For me it can go slowly instead of speeding by. Wow! Those apple trees are really remarkable.

  28. Toni Anderson says:

I’m looking forward to August–less bugs. Though DS finishes daycare forever!! I’ll never get anything done 🙂

  29. Nicole Reising says:

Oh you know, I just heard a commercial about getting ready for school too! I tried to tune it out! :butterfly: sigh, I like having the kids home. And we always start school so early here — in the middle of August.

  30. mary beth says:

HUGS that summer is already over.
Lol on 16 and why can’t he drive?!? Man, they forget fast!
