I had one puny pumpkin plant from Orchard Supply…it took over the garden, growing to 40’x20′ easily, and I had 29 pumpkins on it. Big pumpkins. I was giving them away as party favors at my daughter’s birthday. I am still baking/pureeing/freezing. Luckily, we love pumpkin!

Winter here in Montana is nipping at my Pumpkins, but I have lots of squash. 😆

  3. Laurie says:

We sure never have to worry about a pumpkin shortage like those Libby customers. We can do our own :hungry:

  4. TXLady says:

Suzanne, I made your cushaw pie recipe for Thanksgiving. Thank you! It was a BIG hit.

  9. Miss Becky says:

I roasted my pumpkins this year and my pie turned out to the most delicious pie I have ever made. I almost ate the whole thing myself. And now I am off to read how you prepare yours Suzanne! Those are HUGE! BTW, I used your pastry recipe and it is a keeper for sure!

I roasted pumpkins for the first time ever this year and made pies…they were the most delicious pumpkin pies I’ve ever made. I also made the Pumpkin Caramel Pecan Bread Pudding you posted…OH MY GOSH, that was heavenly, thanks so much for publishing that!

  11. Hannah says:

Speaking of pumpkins, remember the post about Mr. Pear? What was up with Mr. Funky Pumpkin? :help: 😮

  12. Sandra says:

I love fresh pumpkin, too. But I must be lazier than you, I don’t bother to cut in half. I just wrap a whole pumpkin in a little tin foil (just to protect the cookie sheet from the juices) and set on a cookie sheet. When done it just slices apart with a butter knife. This method does render the seeds useless as far as baking them separately, I think.

  13. Darlene in North Georgia says:

I love home cooked pumpkin. I’ve ruined my sister too! Totally corrupted her. She, too, had grown up eating the stuff from the can. Some years ago, I learned how to do pumpkins at home. She came over for Thanksgiving and has never looked back at the stuff in the can.
    lol

And it makes such good soup, too!

  14. Darlene in North Georgia says:

Oh, I forgot to tell you, I’d LOVE to win the BBB too. Every time I want to can something, I have to look it up on the internet to know what the processing time is.

  15. Runningtrails says:

I still have lots of squash to do, too!

  16. Dessa says:

I think it is so awesome the way that you use everything and don’t let anything go to waste. I want to be you when I grow up…okay?
