A Helpful Boy

Ross spent all day helping me yesterday. He’ll probably never come back for fear I’ll be remodeling something! Actually, Ross loves remodeling and construction and probably only wishes I’d had something he could have used a power tool on. We went to the big city in his truck, offloaded an entire truckload of trash I’d accumulated downstairs in cleaning out, then picked up two big freestanding shelving units (which he later put together for me) at Lowe’s and a refrigerator at the scratch ‘n’ dent store! It’s the beginning of my workshop kitchen! I have that area cleaned out now and have started painting the block wall in the kitchen. (PIctured: Ross watching the fridge at the scratch ‘n’ dent store being loaded onto his truck.)

As soon as I saw that title I thought: Ross is helping! Ross is helping! Wish we had a scratch β€˜n’ dent store.

What did Ross think of the “Dramatic Transformation”? I love it when my adult kids help out. Makes me feel like I raised them right when they pitch in…and I didn’t even ask. πŸ™‚

How exciting! And how wonderful to have Ross help, just having his company is heartwarming, I’m sure.
I agree with Miss Judy, I am beginning to reap the benefits with my oldest boy (22). I guess I did “something” right! It’s really neat to watch children become adults; it’s amazing the way our relationships with them change and grow as they do!

:sun: Got to love our kids!
My son helped me hoe my garden last weekend when he was home.. But weeds are still winning. Can’t wait to see pictures of completed workshop kitchen.

What will you do with a workship kitchen? That sounds exciting πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ I’ve never heard of a scratch-n-dent store. is that where you can buy applances that are in excelent condition, but have some slight surface damage? I hope you could get the fridge at a nice discount πŸ™‚ :)That’s awesome that your son was able to help. That’s so sweet πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ Have an awesome 4th of July weekend. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather πŸ™‚ :snoopy:

A few years ago, I put a “kitchen” in our basement, it was one of the best things I ever did–now the basement is not a fancy finished basement, I painted the walls, but a fridge and a gas range down there, found a huge old heavy oak table that had been in a store, that is my work space, and I built storage shelves and found an old cupord with glass doors for storage and pantry. On hot days I bake down there to keep the house cooler. Very cabin-like, but I love it.

I really enjoy having grown children to help even if they aren’t mine.
    Happy 4th.
