Before Coffee

We got home after 1 a.m. last night from Morgan’s away track meet. Since I’d been to a master gardener class (I’m 5/10th of a master gardener now), rather than go all the way home then back, I waited in the high school parking lot for 2 1/2 hours until the bus showed up. I’ve spent a lot of time in the high school parking lot in the dark in my time. There is no sight sweeter than the lights of the school bus coming over the hill. My cousin had bought me $20 worth of ramps, so I spent 2 1/2 hours in the dark in my Explorer with a bag of ramps. Just sayin’. This morning, I got up and found Jack and Poky eating my rose bushes in the front yard. Meanwhile, Buttercup was eating bird seed. Not the way the animals usually eat bird seed–you know, from the ground where the birds let some fall. No, no, she was using her giant tongue to get directly into the bird feeder. Yes, she was surrounded by a pile of chickens. Patriot was behaving like the perfect new kid on the block, but no matter, I put everyone in the newly-repaired first upper pasture and locked the gate.

After I retrieved my second (now hidden) pair of boots because Chloe had made off with one boot from the pair I left out.

Then I walked around and around until I found my boot.

Now I am going to have a cup of coffee.

And die. Goodbye.

(I’m feeling a little dramatic this morning!)

    LOL Good Morning Suzanne 😆

it’s only deer licking the seed out of the feeders here in ‘town’ …

  2. CATRAY44 says:

It still sounds like heaven, to me! :purpleflower:

  3. Yankee in NC says:

ugh….. you are a far better woman than I. Staying up until 1a.m. and still able to post this early in the morning about the antics of the animals as well as move them about the farm is super woman strength in my eyes!
Go hide under the covers for an hour!

That was certainly a lot to go through to be able to leave a message…lol. I have had many days “before the coffee” begin like such ! almost like a whole pot is required after such a start.

  5. Glenda says:

How on earth did you pass the time?

    Only the young …….

Glad to see the animals safely in their new pasture.

  6. GA_in_GA says:

I know that thrill of seeing the bus headlights all too well. 😀 from 3 seasons of sports: cross country, swimming, and track. The ramps will be worth the smell in the car last night. At least it was not a box of chickens keeping you company . . . need I say more?

Hope you have had your coffee by now. I am still working on mine. I think today is going to be a two pot day.

  7. Dottie says:

LOL !!! Oh Suzanne, what a way to start your day!

You must have been so frustrated! I thought it
was hilarious. I love how you can take a
situation that must make you want to scream and
    make it so entertaining.

How nice that you have the facilities to
    LOCK them up.

Get your coffee and sit on the porch smiling,
knowing that you “fixed them” and have it all
    under control.

Enjoy your day. It should all be easy after
    your rough start.

  8. Donna says:

A ‘Time Out’ in the upper pasture sounds like a good thing! Leave the young-in’s at home alone and they just go and party their socks off! LOL!! You should write a book… oh yeah, you DID! Sure looking forward to that coming out in print. Have a peaceful, restful Easter weekend, Suzanne – you deserve it! :clover:

Oh lordy, a bag of ramps in the car. tsk, tsk.
I had to go to the hospital one year and pick up dh after an extended stay. Decided to make it a multi-purpose trip and stopped at the feed store to pick up TEN bags of manure. Loaded into the station wagon and headed to the ‘medical hobby shop’ (hospital). Had to park in the sun and go upstairs and wait for him. Oh my. I would have traded a bag of ramps any day for the aroma which met us.
p.s. DH was not happy.

  10. Butterbean says:

The things we do for our kids!! But with the price of gas, I understand and would have done the same thing!! Glad that you have Patriot now!! I miss having horses, but one day………..

  11. Rose H says:

Hope the coffee has revived you. It’s a full day before you start!

  12. Flowerpower says:

Maybe a nap might be in order? :happyflower:

  13. Stick Horse Cowgirls says:

I just LOVE your farm, Suzanne! You are a strong, independent woman who I admire so much! What’s going on with the stove issue? Just wonderin!
Blessed Easter to you and yours!

Using 4 hoofed lawn mowers does have it’s draw backs.

  15. BuckeyeGirl says:

Your lawn looks nicely mown and if you ask me, EVERYTHING before coffee in the AM is horribly dramatic! Terribly dramatic! Horrendously dramatic… oh, I guess that’s overly dramatic of me isn’t it?

  16. brookdale says:

By the way, how’s the Master Gardener class coming along? You must be learning a lot, and having fun too.
