The Big Storm

Dec

Like a lot of places around the country, we had a big storm blow through here this weekend–leaving scenes like that above on the roads. Of course (OF COURSE!) my power was out.

I think that, right before any holiday, I should just brace for the coming disaster! Pre-Thanksgiving disaster was the water heater. Pre-Christmas, big power outage. I can’t wait for Easter!!!! (Just kidding. I HOPE.)

Anyway. Back. AGAIN.

P.S. I got the generator started by myself this time!

Proud of you starting the genie all by yourself!!!

We also tend to have storms this time of year and lose power. Thankfully the temp going from 80 yesterday to 56 currently did not come with the usual wind. We’ll have 28 by tomorrow. My chickens are protesting.

Terrible storm, folks here are still dealing with a lot of very bad flooding, my heart goes out to them, so many have lost all—again.
Lets hope this will be the last of them for a while.
    Happy Holidays.

I hear you! We have had 40 feet of snow in seven days. Then ice rain up here in ontario. Was trapped for three days. That has not happened for years. Parts of ontario no hydro. In big cities. So we are now all scrambling but all will be fine. Thank god for corn furnace and generator! Merry Christmas! :) Glad you are back.

Good for you starting the generator! I am proud of you.

We have ice and some snow but power stayed on. I know many areas had it much worse. This winter may be full of surprises.

    Merry Christmas!

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
