Birds Feeding the Birds

As the birds peck at the bird feeders, seeds fall and the chickens peck at the ground. Everybody wins!

This is completely off topic, but I just wanted to beg you not to put a right click block on your blog. I have spent the morning browsing blogs (like I do) and it seems ALL of them have decided to go all police state like and disable right click! I right click to open in a new tab, not COPY! All it does is turn me off. In your case, I would stay on your blog (cause it’s like crack for me) but what these other bloggers don’t realise, is I will NEVER go to their site again, because if you put the tiniest bit of resistance up, I won’t bother. That applies to 99.9% of the internet, so thank you for not bowing to the fear of copyright violation, and for keeping your blog usable and irritant free!!

Jane, I tried a right click block last year and got a lot of upset comments and emails, so I took it off. I don’t want to make it difficult for people to browse. 99.999 percent of right clicking is innocent, so I don’t like making it hard for the majority because of the small minority. When I put it on, I actually had no idea how many people use right click to browse because I never do! So it never occurred to me it would be such an annoyance. I won’t be putting it back.

“Psst. Meet me under the bird feeders. I’ll hook you up!”

  3. Jane says:

Thanks – and apologies for my little rant! I should have maybe restricted it to the sites that actually do block the right click;) Though, I am heartily relieved you’re not going in that direction.

:snuggle: :moo: Suzanne, this is so cool, I love to repurpose things, even feed for the birds. You have so many wonderful posts. I am close to heaven reading them and I keep trying to come up with something I can post so it will add to, but alas and alack. NOT YET.
You’re beautiful!!!! inside and out for all the neat, nice terrific things you do for ALL OF US. What a worker you are. BLESSINGS

Very good idea, none is wasted.

My chickens LOVE the birdfeeders! They usually just meander around until suddenly one of them remembers “BIRDFEEDER!” And they all take off at a dead run toward the birdfeeder with their little heads stretched out.

  7. Barbee' says:

Rebecca, that is sooo funny! At our feeder, the ground feeders, like doves, have to fill in for chickens. They do a pretty good job of it, too. Chickens would be more fun to watch. :chicken: (I think this little chicken is asleep.)

  8. Jo says:

We have a tree in our yard that looks exactly the same for the same reason! :snuggle:

Just wondering…do you mind if your readers “borrow” your pictures for desktop wallpaper? I do that occasionally, like when Clover had her babies….I won’t do it if you don’t want people to do that. I do not save them, just set them to my background until something neew comes along. LOL

Suzanne I’m enough of a nerd to ask…what kinds of birds (not the chickens)….

  11. Granny Mountain says:

I love multi-tasking! I have my feeders loaded with sunflower seed and deer corn. They do double duty for the birds and the squirrels. The deer gather up any that’s left. I fight them all summer and then come winter I can’t say no to them…

Have I told you lately how much I appreciate you?! I read your blog every day. However I do think you’re actually twins because I don’t see how you can get so much done every day otherwise! LOL

  13. Cheryl LeMay says:

It looks warm there. So different from here(26 degrees and falling into the teens overnight). When it’s this cold and windy I don’t even let my chickens out- they just run back inside! The sparrows and others will eat the seed that falls to the ground. It’s a good idea when you can do it.

  14. Cousin Sheryl says:

@#14 Ellen – Common birds that come to feeders in our area include: cardinals, nuthatches, black-capped chickadees, juncos, blue jays, red-headed woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, doves, sparrows, scarlet tanagers, yellow tanagers, and other common Eastern US birds.

    FYI

    :snuggle:
