Couple Things

Shortcake, all cleaned up, no more burrs. I took her riding a little bit yesterday evening. If only she loved me as much as I love her….

In other news, if you ordered apple/pear goodies, I’m shipping! I got my boxes yesterday and have scheduled pickups for today, tomorrow, and Friday. My mailman drives a kinda tiny vehicle, so I didn’t want to overwhelm him. You should be receiving your orders by the end of this week or early next week, depending on which shipment you’re in. I called a halt to orders for fear I might have miscounted, but now that all orders are boxed up, I feel safe to say I have a few jars each of whiskey-raisin apple butter, double vanilla pear jam, pear butter, and coconut-raisin pear sauce. First come, first served–if you’re interested, email me at [email protected] with your zip code so I can tell you what your shipping price will be. (Sets of three jars ship cheapest the way the boxes run.)

Second, if you’re on the fence about the cheesy/soapy day here on Saturday, November 3, last call! I’ve got a good group, but can take one or two more. We will be making both hard and soft cheese in the morning. Breakfast and lunch is included, and for lunch, I will be making partially pre-baked pizza crusts in advance, with toppings, for you to top your own individual pizzas with your choice of toppings including your own cheese that you just made–then we’ll bake. We’ll be using the pizza screens, and trust me, it’ll be the best pizza you ever tasted. We’ll take a farm tour to see the animals and spend the afternoon making soap. You’ll be taking your soap home, for yourself or for holiday gifts. If you’re interested in being part of this fun day, email me at [email protected]. The cost for the full day, including meals, is only $100 per person.

See you at the farm!

I wish I could order some jams, and I sure wish I could go for the day.
Suzanne, what on earth is going on with her chin strap? It looks like the chain is impaled on the cheek stop.

  3. enjay says:

The chin strap (in this case it’s actually a chain, and I should be calling it a curb strap/chain) is the chain that runs from one side of the bit to another under her chin, and the cheek stops are the bars that extend out from the bit to stop it from pulling through her mouth. I keep looking at the picture and I while I don’t know for sure it doesn’t appear to be an angle issue because I can see what appears to be the end of the curb chain hooked onto the bit ring.
I don’t usually use curb straps or chains with a snaffle bit anyway, and if it’s hanging that loose you probably should just go ahead and remove it as it’s unsafe.

Oh, I see what you mean about that–that was adjusted before I rode her. Morgan and I were both putting her together and a neighbor stopped by and I went off with him for a few minutes and Morgan took pictures while I was with him. That was fixed before I rode her.
