Chickens, enjoying the unexpected February melt.

Ground–noun: the solid surface of the earth.

I had to look it up cuz I forgot what it was….

I will be glad to see Spring arrive. Tired of deep cold without snow. Bring on the sunshine, budding trees and daffodils popping their green bodies from the cold earth. Your chickens look happy to have dry (?) ground to scratch.

I just wish Mother Nature would stop flipping the on/off switch and be done with it! Texas was in deep freeze and snow, then days in the 40s, now teens and 20s expected once again, then 2 days later 60s! On / off. On / off. SPRING PLEASE!

  3. Carmen at Old House Kitchen says:

We still have lots of that fluffy white stuff with more coming down. Wake up Spring! We are ready!

  4. Linda says:

It is in the upper 20’s here in West TN…snow on the ground and more on its way tomorrow….going to be very cold for the next couple of days but by the weekend it will be sunshine and upper 40’s to low 50’s……Yippee!!! :snoopy:

what is ground??? Haven’t seen it here in SE Kansas for over a week. 13 degrees here and more snow(3 to 6 inches) on the way later today and there is still a foot of snow on the ground!! It is, however, SUPPOSED to get up to almost 60 degrees on sunday. We shall see……

We are having spring also. Rains showers and sun intraspursed. Very Nice!

  7. Window On The Prairie says:

This morning it was -1 F here in northeast Kansas. Would love to see some spring weather, but we probably won’t until March.

Would you look at that…grass! We haven’t seen it in what seems a very long time here in upstate NY. I don’t think our 2 feet of snow will be gone any time soon since more frigid temps are predicted for the next few days.
But we know spring will come…eventually! :happyflower:

  9. Karo says:

Schools closed for four days last week in North Texas and will probably be closed tomorrow. Suzanne, you lived in Texas so you know how crazy that is! We just don’t have continuous cold like this.

I hate it. But only because I feel guilty not going to work. And I really needed to go to Target last week and couldn’t get there even though it’s just down the street.

  10. Melissa says:

You have melt, we have snow and ice today. Winter in the Rockies comes from Feb-the first part of April.
