Deflated Daisies

It has rained here so much for the last few weeks–nearly every day–that everything is bedraggled. Including the dogs.

We had a little power outage here yesterday afternoon/evening, so I never did get to the Daily Farm yesterday. I still have to remind myself when there is a power outage that I don’t have to worry about conserving water. Since I hooked up to public water, a power outage means no water shortages. It’s lovely. But hard to remember sometimes! I still feel as if I need to hurry and fill up the bathtub when there’s a storm. I’m sure I’ll get over that. Eventually.

Other than not being able to post and not fixing the dinner I’d planned, the worst part was that I was on the phone with a horse trainer at the time the power went out, which made the phone go dead and I had to go find the non-electric phone to call back. I’ve got a great plan now for some training for the horses, and lessons for us, from an expert horse trainer and trail riding instructor. More on this later–we start in June!

Which wet puppy is this? Giant Puppy or new puppy? (the paws look so big. . . )

Yes those daisies seem to have gotten a nice shower! Looking at the fields in the Barn posting I notice wildflowers all over. What are the small yellow flowers you can see behind the daisies? The rain has made everything lush and green and fresh-looking. This has been a banner year in our area for the plants. It’s so green and vibrant that it reminds me of the beautiful green fields we saw in Ireland. Rain does make the flowers grow as the saying goes.

Wired phones normally wont go out during a storm because the phone company uses massive battery banks to operate the system. However, in order to stay connected, you have to use a standard phone (nothing like a cordless portable phone) because those DO use regular electricity to operate. Always keep a standard wired phone in the house for emergencies. The typical reason a wired phone goes out is if someone takes-out a phone pole in a wreck.

I think your bedraggled daisies are beautiful. Can’t wait for riding posts.
