Drop Dead Naked

Fall is surely the swiftest of seasons. While spring seems slow as we yearn for the thaw and the green, and summer soars and flies, it is autumn that breaks the sound barrier as it moves faster than the eye can catch it. The leaves are barely in their peak when suddenly they’re gone.

Winter, the slowest season of them all, creeps in early to prepare itself a place where it can dig in like a squatter who won’t leave. We might get our first snow this weekend!

:snoopy: We’ve had our first snow of the season already. On Halloween day. All gone now but it is very chilly mornings and lots of rain predicted for this coming weekend. Winter seemed so long last year….hopefully this winter will go by faster. As long as I have good supply of books to read…I’ll make out just fine .

Well, I can honestly say that winter is pretty mild and speedy for us in Texas. It’s that long, hot, dry stifling summer that takes her sweet time meandering through here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Snow…. oh not yet, please? Here in the Sierra foothills of California, its going to be in the 70’s and beautiful today. Yesterday I walked the lake with my dogs and took in all of the fab color. However, 20 miles up the road, Sonora Pass, 3 inches of snow fell over the weekend…..just a little more Fall, pleezzeeeee!

I like the picture. It seems that each fall, the blue of the sky changes to a darker, more vivid blue. Or is it just That I’m the only one that thinks so.

I know what you mean! I kept meaning to climb up on the roof to get a panorama pic of our fall farm garden and now the leaves are all gone so I’m thinking, is it even worth it to go find and drag out the ladder? ๐Ÿ™‚

My daughter is just old enough to wonder about the falling leaves for the first time this year and I keep telling her that the leaves fall down to make a blanket so the trees can go to sleep. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Rachel says:

over here in Maine, we had our first snow last weekend. And since then it’s been FREEZING!

  21. whaledancer says:

I’m still waiting for autumn. It’s my favorite season, but here in southern California, the weather has gone totally insane. It’s 98 degrees today, and I live on the coast. I’m ready to cook stews and soups and cassaroles, and it’s too hot to turn on the stove. And my poor garden is so confused!

  22. Deborah R says:

Snow? Good thing we’re going to the “big city” for our monthly shopping trip tomorrow! (note to self: start keeping an eye on the weather forecasts!)

  23. Jessica says:

Our first snow was last month. I’m hoping winter won’t be as harsh as last year. I wish the beauty of fall lasted longer. It is my favorite season.
