Hay Wagon Plus

My cousin went to an equipment auction this weekend and came away with this hay wagon! He’s going to give it some tender loving care so I can use it at parties for hay rides for kids!

He also came away with the hay wagon full of other stuff he got at the auction and I wish I could tell you the names of all of it, but I can’t. He said “carry-all” and some other stuff. (A LOT of other stuff!)

(I don’t think all of it is even in this wagon!)

This is a creep feeder–for me!

And this is a plow–for me.

But it’s really a yard decoration. I took the creep feeder and the plow right home!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, your cousin is one awesome guy! :shimmy:

  2. brookdale says:

Love the plow! Your cousin sure knows how to find great “stuff”! I wonder what all those other treasures are in the wagon?
By the way, what’s a creep feeder? I’ve never heard of that one.

  3. yvonnem says:

I wanna know what a creep feeder is too!

Oh, good. I thought it was for when you had to feed creeps. ๐Ÿ™‚

First rule of auctions: Nothing is a bargin unless you need it!
Second rule : Don’t buy more than your truck can haul home.
Third rule : Know before bidding what item is worth retail-don’t bid more, set a limit and stick to it!

I knew that Cousin S needed some farm equipment so off to auction.

I first bid in and got some Cub Tractor parts that were piled in the wagon. I got them and then wondered how to put them in a Jeep Wagoneer. I was interested in the wagon now as to not have to unload and reload 500 pounds of iron out of somebody’s newly purchased wagon. Bid in wagon for $100.00 (what a back saver). I then filled up trailer with tractor rear carry all, rear mount sickle bar mower, tractor roll bar, fruit tree sprayer, truck tool boxes, lawn mower, creep hay feeder, horse drawn cultivator among other stuff…. Like to puzzle Cousin Suzanne with farm labor savers ….. Will trade auction finds for pepperoni rolls and cow cheese????????????

They can bring tears to your eyes. How wonderful!

Good to have a comment directly from Cousin Mark, the man of many talents. Thanks for telling us what all those treasures are in the wagon! I had no idea what a creep feeder is. I recognized only the horse drawn cultivator & the lawn mower. When I was a child I watched as my dad used a cultivator drawn by one of his pair of gray Percherons in our garden. I loved those big, docile horses.

Who is going to pull the wagon? I’m just not seeing Patriot being on board :snoopy: with that.

  11. Ms.Becky says:

wait a minute. I just read your post about de-cluttering and getting rid of stuff and thought “wow, this is lighting a fire under me to get started on my own clutter – yay!” Hmmmm. Nice wagon though. And I love Cousin Mark’s comment.

  12. Murphala says:

Dude, I would so harness up Patriot (just once) to the plow and plow a furrow, or three. Or at least for a picture! How cool would that picture be–Suzanne, takin’ it to the last century in farming tech!
Plus Patriot, sweet horse that he is, might learn that there are worse things than hauling a teenage girl around on his back. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. Murphala says:

Or better yet? When are you getting the oxen? ๐Ÿ˜†

  14. LK says:

Murphala, she can GROW her own oxen… ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰ all she needs is a couple of steers, train them from little and feed them until they are big and strong enough to pull that wagon. How cool would that be?

Suzanne, those are wonderful auction finds. Nothing like getting great deals!

  15. bbkrehmeyer says:

hey.you could put Jack or Poky on the other end of the cultivator. bet it wouldnt take more n, a day or two to plow a row or so….

  16. Holly in MO says:

OMG…..I have a 2 row cultivator exactly like that in front of my house. It sits in the middle of the garden and is surrounded by ostrich ferns. I can’t wait to see pictures of how you have incorporated it into your landscape.

  17. Lois says:

Uh, Suzanne, won’t you have to actually learn to DRIVE that tractor before you start trying to pull hay wagons? Just kidding! I learned how to “drive” on an old Massey Ferguson tractor when I was 10. Well, how to keep it in the road anyway. I’ve had several vehicles, both trucks and cars, that were standards. Seems like it never failed we’d move some big hilly places and I’d get stuck on the side going up at a light and have to try to keep from rolling into anyone behind me while getting moving again. After the last one, I swore I’d never have another. So what did I do at 55? Went to truck driving school – and not an automatic in sight! Lucky for me, the company I worked for the next 5 years all had AUTOMATICS!
