I’m in little red hen mode, preparing for the unveiling of the “surprise” tomorrow. Don’t miss it!

  1. Nancy in Iowa says:

Their feathery little butts look so happy in all that green!!

  2. Julie says:

    Looking forward to the unveiling!

  3. Judy says:

    Definitely can’t wait!

  4. Carol Langille says:

    I WANT CHICKENS!!!
I want fluffy-butted feathery egg-laying hens running around my yard and laying eggs so I can have eggs to do stuff with (mostly just eat!)but alas, I do not have a yard. I have a balcony on the second floor apartment I live in and the chickens would have to share it with my two cats who love to watch the birds out there.
So I’ll just enjoy your chickens, Suzanne! And the cow and sheep and dogs and cats and goats and all…..

  5. Grace Reynolds says:

What could it be? Has anyone guessed? No, don’t tell me. I love surprises!

  6. Deb says:

Not another cow? Hmmm…..is “little red hen” a clue? Perhaps a wheat grinder? New bread recipe?

  7. Barbee' says:

Oooo, secrets are so hard to keep. Suzanne, you are so good at it. Looking forward to the announcement and the excitement it will produce among us readers… or should that be “we readers”, I never know about such things. It drives me batty, can anyone tell me the correct word??? ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜• I bet Suzanne knows.

  8. Jo says:

Can hardly wait! I might actually stay up ’til midnight when your blog posts automagically so I can find out sooner!!! :happyfeet: :moo:

I got my very first chicks (1 doz) about a week ago! Looking forward to the experience! I got them from the local farm store and they’re called “brown egg layers”, how’s that for original? ๐Ÿ˜† I even asked the people that worked there, hoping to find out what they’re called (like a Buff Orpington or Rhode Island Red, etc…) and they all said, “They’re called brown egg layers, that’s all we know.”

  9. Shirley T says:

I’m just wondering if you ever process any of those chickens for your family food?

  10. Glenda says:

    good morning.
wanted to tell you I have fallen in love with your farm. We only have a small acreage, so we are very limited…BUT..we are starting.
    A kitchen garden
    building a clothesline
    building a chicken coop
and a shed for a milk cow
getting back to the old ways..
    self sufficiency rules…
I can’t wait to have Chickens in the yard.
    and it’s all YOUR FAULT!!!
    Thank you, Suzannah…

No one responded to Barbee’s question as of yet, so I’m going to take a stab. Regarding “excitement it will produce among us readers”.. us would be correct, not we readers. We wouldn’t say excitement among we. We would say excitement among us…object of the preposition “among”. I don’t have a great education, and I’m sure someone else could explain it better, but I’m sure “us readers” is correct…

  12. Yankee Gal says:

 I just love those fluffy chicken butts!

  13. Barbee' says:

Mary, a great BIG thank you for helping me get my wires uncrossed. I get so confused sometimes. Of course! Your logic is easy and helpful. I think I will copy and paste it into a Notepad entry. I need to start a collection of tips to help me write. I appreciate your stepping up and taking a stab. I don’t think anyone could have done a better job. That is very nice of you. :happyflower:

  14. whaledancer says:

Hmm, Little Red Hen mode… You’re going to ask who will help you to plant wheat, and harvest it, and thresh it, and take it to the mill, and bake bread. And those who say “I will!” to all of the above will get to help eat the bread. Right?

  15. bonita says:

Because you already have a dog, cat, and a duck…my guess is you’re getting a milling stone.
