A hay elevator!

Boy, will that make it easier getting 600 bales in the hayloft. For those of you who may not know what a hay elevator is, it’s a conveyor that moves square bales (effortlessly!) up to a hayloft. This hay elevator was actually originally a conveyor in a warehouse, but the farmer I got it from was using it as a hay elevator and so will I. My cousin went in on it with me for us to share because he’s got some things he wants to move around on his farm.

It has an electric engine, so it’s really simple. Move the elevator (with the tractor) up to the loft window and push the button!

I love farm equipment!

:sheepjump: Way to go! Farm work can’t be done alone!

Protect the electric connection from hay, it could catch on fire and we DON’T want that.

That is my best piece of equipment in the haying season……

I am really jealous…I only buy 100 bales at a time due to limited space but getting it into the barn and stacked is strictly a manual labor situation. Good for you! Oh, and this will be another reason to practice tractor driving…….just sayin’

Cool!! I seem to recall as a child, my cousins trying to run up the elevator into the loft. But it was AWFUL high – I can’t imagine even the boldest one actually making it all the way! I loved to watch them try, tho! :cowsleep:

    A great back saving investment!
I remember the men using a team of horses, hay hooks, ropes and a pully to get hay into the loft.As a 5 yr old I loved to watch the horses work.Of course that was many decades ago!
It’s great that you have a cousin to go in on the cost with you.

Back in the day, Daddy had a corn elevator that was wide enough to use for the hay, too. Saved a lot of hard work by hoisting it up to the loft so it could be stacked.

Looks like a great addition to the farm equipment.

Also good that cousin is a partner and will be a great help keeping it in good operating order.
