Looky There

First we find a huge patch of wild blackberries on the hillside back up behind our house and NOW wild raspberries growing alongside the driveway! Where have they been hiding? I’ve been looking for ’em in the three years we’ve been here and this year, poof, all these berries show up!!!

I’m excited.

Raspberries & blackberries both produce fruit on two year old cane….maybe they are “new” and have just seeded there within the last couple of years?

How exciting! Look a bit more and you may find wild strawberries, too! https://chickensintheroad.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/snoopy.gif

I LOVE raspberries and blackberries. I would take them over ANY fruit! Lucky you!

You are so lucky to have them so close. I actually travel about an hour’s drive to the mountains to pick my blackberries. It’s worth the trip. We gather up the kids and grandkids and make a fun-filled family day trip out of it. We all come home scratched and tired but we enjoy the fruits of our labor for a long long time.

That’s what I’m talking about “God’s game of hide and seek”… you just have to know what to look for:)

Thats because God heard your words and turned them into prayers and there you are. :eating:

Disturbed ground from building and some trees removed so there is more light leads to succession growth. Briars and brambles take a couple of years to take hold and fruit. Sounds like they are right on schedule. Having the cow will keep things trimmed back and add some fertility to the ground. You should see even more edibles in the future.

Ohhhhh I love wild raspberries! Precious things they are! Don’t forget my Black Razzlecherry Jam recipe in Farm Bell if you have black raspberries – well, red will work I am sure LOL.

Gosh, those look so much nicer than the ones at the store. I’m excited for you! I found a new mulberry tree yesterday while I was mowing; I love the surprises nature offers! :happyflower:
