Six buckets, empty, and the Pear Pressure is over! They turned into somewhere between 25-30 pints of peeled, sliced pears blanched then frozen in syrup. (I lost count at some point, but that’s close.)

Poor Mr. Pear 😥 Oh well! I hope the rest of them are as tasty as Clover thought 8)

Really like this website/blog, just a quick question; I’ve canned and frozen alot of food this summer and fall too, and was wondering if you have a good method of how to keep track of what you have and how often to use it? I have one of those old freezers you look down in and frankly sometimes I get lost! thanks for all your good advice.

I don’t have the greatest method, probably! I date everything, of course, and I organize the freezer as to all the fruit together, all the peppers together, all the corn together, etc and so on. (Both my freezers are upright freezers, by the way, so that might make it easier.) When I start putting in fruit and corn and peppers etc next year and go to that spot in the freezer, I’ll make sure I take out the old of that type if there is anything left, which I doubt!

AWESOME! When I saw the photo I said to myself, “She got the pears done!” And shure ‘nough ya did! :chicken:

Yay!!! Doesn’t it feel good when it’s finally all put up!

Yeay Suzanne…you’re done! It feels so good to look in your freezer and see all that hard work sitting there ready for winter. I miss that. I used to can but haven’t for about 12 years…now that we moved to a farm this summer that has friut trees (and plans for a large garden) I hope to get back into it. It’s such a wonderfull feeling of accomplishment. Now you can sit back and enjoy the ‘fruits’ of your labor! :hungry2:

Congrats…Doesn’t it make you feel smug to know that the pears are there for future consumption and “you” did it. Many people wonder why I do the things I do and there is just no way to make them understand that feeling of smugness. Every time I walk into the pantry where I store my goods, I am overwhelmed with that feeling.
I have to tell you though that when I saw the picture, I said to myself…everyone who lives in the country has a stash of old buckets somewhere waiting to be used.
