Mobile Milk Maid

Milking BP at Skip’s farm.

I milk her inside the paddock. The truck, with the generator and the vacuum pump onboard, is backed right up to the paddock.

The milk bucket and hoses are brought in under the sides of the paddock and up to BP. I keep it all in a big pan so nothing touches the ground. I just hook up to BP and get rolling.

I could travel the country! Pull up, start milking. Get yer cows to the paddocks, I’m a comin’!

Does BP still give as much milk as she does when she is in her home territory?

If only I had a milk cow! And chickens . . . wait, I will have chickens soon!

The girls with the eggs will be here soon, but the pre-fab coop should be here tomorrow! I heeded all those who posted about their chicks out growing their brooders much sooner than their coop was built!

CITR is inspirational. Thank you, Suzanne!

Like a door-to-door vacuum salesman, only you’re vacuuming milk. Ha Ha. 😀

Do you still have to call for her, or is she waiting for you when you get there?

  7. Sheila Z says:

You show up with grain and BP will arrive. Cows love their sweet feed! Cows will come to salt to if they are pastured without a salt lick and you aren’t giving them any grain. That’s how my grandfather used to check on the heifers and dry cows when they were out on summer pasture. He would take them a bucket of salt every 3 to 5 days and the cows would come running when he called them.
