Morgantown-Bound

We’re on our way to Morgantown today. Weston’s scheduled move-in time to his West Virginia University dorm is 8:30 to noon Friday morning. Morgantown is about 3 hours or so north from here, so in order to not get up at o’dark-thirty Friday morning, we’re heading to Clarksburg, just south of Morgantown, where we’ll spend the night with friends. From there, we’ll leave first thing Friday morning to easily arrive for the prescribed move-in. It’s a 3-point system where one person must stay with the car and take it to park somewhere else (and hike back!) after off-loading the stuff. Only the student can go inside the dorm to get his room key. Another person must stay at the curb with the stuff while the driver (that would be me) goes off to park (and hike back). We’re bringing Weston’s appendage (i.e. his girlfriend) for the curb service to guard his stuff while he goes inside for the key and while I’m parking.

Or we’re bringing her because she’s his appendage, I’m not sure which.

I’m also not sure how they’re going to endure the torture of two semesters of separation until she joins him at WVU. I’m sure there will be a lot of texting involved.

Anyway, I will update as I can. We’re Morgantown-bound!

I have a kid in the Navy and a kid in college. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Next thing you know, Morgan’s going to join the circus.

You can’t keep them down on the farm. Funny isn’t is how the childhood days are endless then you turn around and they have all flown the coop.

The three point system sounds a bit like the riddle with the fox, the chicken, and the goat who wanted to cross the river, but only two could be in the boat at one time…..
Oh and the cute appendage is along to guard the cookies, since they’re made with butter, they’re safe with her!

my friend will be joining the Morgantown group this evening when they arrive for their daughters drop off time-good luck to all the new college kids!!

This is easing you into the empty nest syndrome!

    Good luck to you all.

As I told my Grands this past weekend; this is the best time of their lives….enjoy it to the fullest.

    …..MOUNTAINEEEEEEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    😀

Do you need some good mediterranean? Ali Baba’s is closed down but I hear the owner, Elias, kept open his cafe in the airport – Fantabulous hummus and taboulleh!

Or, a nice dinner at the Beanery is always a goo choice, is in on the Evansdale campus or Downtown? You should measure his calves RIGHT NOW before his first semester and then measure them again when he comes home :). I used to subconciously count the number of steps from the Walnut PRT to Stalnaker and know how many more I had to go. Congrats on your new ‘Eer! I loved going to school there!

    *sigh* – Wish I knew how to edit a previous comment 😮 . Beanery is “good”, NOT “goo”, and it should’ve been “is HE on the Evansdale…” :}

Too much mountaineer excitement…Every time you post about WVU I can’t stop myself from the Let’s Go! Mountaineers! I can’t help it!! One day, one day soon, he’ll be screaming the Let’s Go. And then the day comes where…he’ll have to scream the Mountaineers part. :hissyfit: It’s a hard adjustment to make :).

Suzanne,You’ve done this before you can do this again! 🙂 I love it when my adult kids come home…for a visit! A couple of them came back home to live for a while and I can honestly say it was a happy time for everyone involved when they were able to move out on their own again.Yes the house gets kind of quiet now but the transition time has helped me enjoy this time of my life.

  9. Katsat says:

Are you sure that if/when Morgan leaves, she won’t be running FROM the circus? Hee, hee!

  10. Cousin Sheryl says:

You are not going to believe this but your Cousin Madison pulled out only 3 minutes before you buzzed by the Old Farmhouse on your way to Morgantown! He will be ready in the morning to greet you and help unload!

(Sniffle, sob…) Madison got up and got ready so fast this morning that I didn’t have time to cry. I can’t believe that he is going back to WVU for his Sophomore year.

Cousin Mark says that he can just see Morgan in the circus with a whip, a chair and a pith helmet in the lion’s cage! Mark is looking up web pages for circus information. (Just kidding!)

I can’t wait to see your pictures when you get back. Mark, Georgia, Morgan and I will be waiting to hear the tale!

    LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRSSSSSSS!

If a circus is as far as Morgan goes, she won’t have to leave the farm!

I’m right there with you though, taking my YOUNGEST for her first year at UNC-Chapel Hill Saturday. boo-hoo.

  12. wvhomecanner says:

WOOHOO! Suzanne and I got to have a visit today in Clarksburg which included a verrryyy special little field trip. Watch for a sneak preview tomorrow – but I’ll give you a hint.

This brings back memories. I graduated from WVU in BC –that is before computers 1965. It all has changed slightly.
