Mystery Solved

Ack!!!

Obviously, I’ve never been around horses or horseshoes, though the adage that it will make your luck run out if a horseshoe has the points turned downward sounds vaguely familiar. I’d forgotten it till you all mentioned it in my barn tour post. Does that explain why this morning when I reached for the handle on the tub faucet, it fell off in my hand? AND EVERYTHING ELSE?

Don’t say I can’t follow directions.

I went straightaway to the barn and got it. There’s no room to put it over the front door so I put it next to it. I hope that will do!

Yayyy! I’m always so happy when we, your devoted readers, can help you solve a problem! You are usually the one instructing us – but this just made my day!

Hehe….Yes, this is a horseshoe, but more technically, it is a hook for a bridle/headstall. And if you were using it for that purpose, it is upside-down. 🙂

I was goint to post on your barn post to turn it the other way, but other sharp eyes spotted it for you – good luck will now stay with you!

My word you seem to be having your share of things going wrong. But I see you’ve fixed the problem by hanging the horseshoe. Perhaps you need to hire a handyman….some older gentlemen who’d like to earn a few extra dollars to do these odd chores for you when something needs repairing etc. Or a teenage boy…to check in with you so many times per week…assign him what you need done for the day. This in no way would take away from you being in charge of your own farm. Most every farm has someone in charge that workers report to…must be some way to pay them wages be it cash money or food or bartering something. Just my opinion….then you could work on that cookbook ha ha One person can only do so much, you see!

Ahh, I remember when I moved into my house. The first thing I purchased for it were two horseshoes, one for the front and one for the back.

I have to agree with twoturkey. Hire someone to help you with the farm, even if it’s just small chores once or twice a week for a couple of hours. I have a suburban house and huge garden, and I consider hiring someone to come in once a week to clean for me!

I think it will function well where it is 🙂 Yes, people do use them to hang tack on, but you know, they work just fine this direction too!

Sorry, Suzanne! I wasn’t trying to be cantankerous! It really does look good right where it is — and who couldn’t use any extra luck?

:snoopy: Yay!!! Only GOOD luck for you from now on!! I’m sure of it!! And it looks lovely (and LUCKY) right where you put it…

Actually, this one looks like a salt block holder. The ones that you use to hang bridles from usually have a solid piece along what would be the top (the middle of the curve, if that makes sense). This one is open on that part, but has bars like it could hold a salt lick. This one is plastic but gives you the idea: https://www.doversaddlery.com/horseshoe-salt-block-holder/p/X1-2785/

That being said, you’ve got it right-side-up! And wouldn’t it look nice with a small bouqet of dried flowers sticking up through the middle? Or even better, fresh flowers you grow in your garden?!
