On My Table Today

Dec

Here’s what’s going on at my house this weekend:

Candles (apple pie, sage and chamomile, and citrus, plus cupcake candles), homemade paper, dehydrated orange slices, sage and chamomile soap, cheese sitting in a brine bath, and various and sundry ingredients and supplies for more soap and scented body sprays.

I’ve got more cheese starting in the pot right now, and I’m about to start some apple swirled soap! What’s on your table today?

Granddaughter’s birthday is on the 10th, dance recital on the 12th and they can’t make it home for the holidays, so I am wrapping everything and taking it down in one trip. If the cats will let me get it wrapped – that is! :help:

two different biscottis, fruit cakes, homemade hot chocolate mix and several bottles to fill with homemade vanilla.
And a small space for lunch!

  14. CraftyK says:

What a beautiful table full of homemade wonderfulness! :sun: I have to go to the grocery store first, but I hope to be trying our my very first cheese today! My husband bought me the “Ultimate” cheesemaking kit from Leeners and I’ve been reading “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Cheese Making”, so I hope I’m prepared! First cheese recommended is Paneer Indian Cheese, using lemon juice, then Queso Blanco, using vinegar. If I’m comfortable enough with those, I might move on to Mascarpone and/or Mozzarella this weekend too! But I don’t want to get ahead of myself! Baby steps, baby steps!

  15. Miss Judy says:

On my dining table is laundry to be folded and bills to be paid. On my kitchen island are ingredients to make meatballs to freeze! in my cabinet are the ingredients to make…SOAP! You’ve convinced me that I can do it! BTW, I love the cupcake candles. I think you’ve almost persuaded me I can do that too!

  16. jackie c. says:

 Today, it is Honey Butter Soap to be labeled. Crystal earrings to be finished (I lost my pliers and had to wait for replacements that arrived yesterday). Put clasp on seed bead and gemstone necklace and finish the go-with earrings gift for the sister. This also was waiting on the arrival of missing pliers. Durn pliers. I either left them at beading group meeting room or they have taken up residence somewhere unknown in the couch. I’m painting my new pliers bright pink.

  17. Naomi says:

Today is my daughter’s 17th birthday, so our Christmas doings always wait til the day after. Of course, tomorrow my table will be full of fun holiday stuff!!

DH has found a new hobby, candy making, he’s out of control. The kids are all coming tomorrow for the first of many cookie and candy making days.

  20. Urbanite says:

I do a lot of my cooking and crafts on weekends, but nowhere near as much as you! Wow! Today I’m making lasagna (done), bread, your chocolate cake, roasted chickens, and cheddar cheese. Next weekend I plan to take my first shot at parmesan cheese, which will also be my first try at brined cheese. Also on the agenda for next weekend is an experiment with suet bird feed using chicken fat instead of suet. We’ll see how that goes.

  21. carol says:

Any chance in the future that you will make soap to sell?? I would like to buy some. CG

  22. bonita says:

Dining table has leash waiting for dog to come home from surgery (ate a potholder!!!) Kitch counter covered with fruit gems to be brushed with booze, and misc goods from pantry ’cause the mice are back (snarl). Found they are feasting on eco friendly soap. Moved holiday stuff onto office desk. It’s like musical surfaces in this house today! My table is eyeing your table with pure envy!

  23. Hrist says:

Way too much junk on my table. And my other table. And my desk. And my other desk. And my floor. Today is for cleaning. After some more homework. Sigh.

I think I’m gonna start up another lot of 5-minute artisan bread first, though.

  24. Glasslass says:

On my table today are the Thanksgiving good dishes, the silverware chest and a stack of receipes that have been cut out or printed that I need to weed through. Oh how I wish I had your energy.

  25. Jane says:

I am making bread, but not doing much else. I have a big lazy bone in me unfortunately:( I am humbled by your accomplishments though, and wish I was more like you! Everything you’ve done/doing sounds fab – especially the apple swirl soap. I hope you do a post on that. Have a great w/end!

You’re amazing! Today, my table is covered with candymaking supplies – it’s cordial cherry day! I’m a week behind, but hopefully they’ll still be ready by Christmas – you have to let them sit for a month after making them. I’m using tart cherries I picked in July and canned in BRANDY, so they should be delicious! :)

  28. Linda Segerson says:

I have sewing machine and fabric and craft items on my table. Working on Christmas gifts.

  38. Nic, SD says:

On my table, literally? A bottle of Vitamin C, a plate that I haven’t put away yet from the burrito I had, and the book I’m reading. Figuratively on my table are the cookies I’ll be making today (oatmeal raisin) and the chipotle mayo I’ll be throwing together for sandwiches. I should also be getting the last of my holiday shopping finished, online.

  39. Carol Langille says:

Today, I take my Snow Family and the ceramic churches down to work so I can begin decorating there….also going to buy a new Christmas tree for our house, sort through decorations that were brought down from their home in the closet, finish the Christmas cards, bake a turkey and make dressing for supper tonight (my husband thinks an early turkey is an appetizer for Christmas Day dinner), do some laundry and decorate the fireplace mantel.
No soap, candle or paper making here but I might oven dry some oranges and apples. When the turkey is done, that is.

  40. Diane says:
