Snow sliding off the roof of the front porch in huge sheets that suddenly break off and crash. You don’t want to be walking under it at the wrong time….

That almost never happens in Bonita Springs, Florida. 🙂

  2. Heather says:

This is my first winter in Kansas and we are having our first BIG storm! We have about 6 inches now with at least 4-5 more expected tomorrow! At least we haven’t lost power!

I know what you mean about the wrong time…melting snow and a metal roof….Looks like you need a roof rake

  4. Kathleen in Michigan says:

    It looks like an awning!

Avalanche! Run for your life! Even a tiara won’t protect you Clover. Looks like Santa was on a slippery slope at your house this year.

I grew up in the midwest and 1959 was when I was in first grade…the school I went to had a low pitch roof and snow would get very deep on it. During the day, if it was sunny, the snow would begin to melt and by late afternoon, the temps would drop again and the melt would form huge icicles that would go from the eaves almost to the ground. We went out to play at recess with the admonition from our teacher to ‘Stay away from the building because if the giant icicles broke and fell, they would pierce us and we would die.’ Seriously. We went out and played even if it was in a blizzard (rain was different…we didn’t go out in the rain.) and at that time, little girls were not allowed to wear pants to school. We could wear them UNDER our dresses but we had to take them off when we were in the building. I remember being in snow, in the school yard, up above my knees in snow and we never thought a thing about it. It’s what we did.
Hmmm….long story to just say your snow slide off the roof reminds me of icicles on the school roof!
    Have a blessed Christmas, Suzanne.

  8. Hannah says:

We got a ton of snow here in Oklahoma (but nowhere near as much as that!) Merry Christmas! :snowman: :reindeer: :grinch:

  9. Nancy in Iowa says:

That’s a terrific photo – and I know you’d rather have it slide off the roof than cave it in!! We’ve got a ton of snow here in SW Iowa with more to come, but my question is: How the deuce does snow get in under the living room window and create a small drift on the inside when the window is closed tight on both sides, locked, and the side with the drift doesn’t even slide anyway?!!!

  10. jean says:

wow. what a great shot. it must make a big mess down below. Merry Christmas.

  11. Jo says:

Cool! I bet that makes a lot of noise!

We are in the middle of the snowstorm in the midwest right now. We have 12+” and it’s not done yet. No one’s going anywhere for Christmas today.
