The Beulah Petunia Report

There was not a bull with her.

This is NOT the end-all-be-all of the situation, of course. Yesterday was Day 21, but she could be slightly left or right of that by hours, and I am not on site full-time. Did she bellow? How would I know? I am a mile away. If she bellows, a bull is available, pronto, so bellowing need not be extended. HOWEVER. The bull was not with her yesterday evening. I came at feeding time. I stayed for about 45 minutes, longer than necessary to observe. This is our third go-round at a heat exposure. If she’s in heat, the bull will BE THERE, non-stop, he would come to feeding time, keeping up with his woman. You don’t have to wait and look around. I will carry this waiting period through the weekend, well past her complete potential heat cycle. If I don’t see the bull with her all weekend, I believe I can start counting Baby from three weeks ago.

Either way, she’s coming home Monday because I can’t be without my BP another day longer.

So glad to hear that BP will be coming home with you 🙂
Will GB be staying with the bull for another cycle just to make sure she gets bred? (and to assist with weaning the stubborn girl too)

    • Suzanne McMinn says:

enjay, no, I’m afraid to leave Glory Bee there without BP. I think she will break through the fences and come after mama. Skip has cows in the road a lot, LOL, so I don’t think breaking out is too hard if you want to!

Suzanne, this is so exciting to have her PG and home with the possibility of GB being bred also!!! :cowsleep: :moo:
I notice in the beef herd (because they are the cattle with the bull all the time) that the cows in hear hang around the bull also, so it isn’t just the bull being close.
