The Dog Ate My Homework

Our power was out yesterday evening for several hours. I was cooking dinner by candlelight before we finally got the generator going. The power came back, but the satellite internet wasn’t working for awhile. (And then the phone went out, too!) I wasn’t able to get my posts up for today. By the time the satellite internet came back, this farmer was ready for bed!

I’ll be back up and running as usual as soon as possible here. Unless we have another power outage. It’s snowing, snowing, snowing. Did I mention it’s snowing?!

    But that’s a beautiful picture 😉

It’s stopped snowing here…it’s actually very pretty out with the sun coming through all the snow covered trees 🙂

Cool picture, I have actually cooked on wood stove in the past, power was out for 9 days. We did not have gas but we kept warm and food in our tummy’s, not to mention I heated water on the wood stove to take baths with.

I was just thinking about those farm women in the days before telephones, radios, snowplows, and satellite internet: how isolated they must have been when it snowed. I’ll bet they longed for the day when they get to a neighbor’s house, or get into town to pick up their mail. I’m glad I live in a time when being housebound does mean being cut off from communication.

Snowed here too…cleaned it off the driveway and walks only to come in and find out we can expect 3-5 more inches tonight! Oh well, it’s winter and we have power (but a broken stove!) so no worries! Good luck!

Don’t worry about us…we have more than enough to keep us busy here until you get back on line. I know what frequent power outages are like. Where we lived before the power would go off every time it rained or got windy. This went on for years. Finally, the electric company bit the bullet and sent crews out to trim the limbs around the power lines. After that…not so much loss of power. We learned to save water in containers, have a wood stove for heat, a gas stove for cooking, and lots of blankets in the cold seasons.

well, if it’s any consolation, the candlelight is lovely. hope you’re back up and running very soon. It’s sunny here is SE Wisconsin, but very cold. Stay warm Suzanne!

I love the candle light glow in the pictures. Very pretty.

Be careful around the lit candles whilst you are cooking. It would be easy to have a shirt sleeve too close to the flame and set your shirt on fire. Just worry-warting about you.

I hate it when the power goes off.
