The Icy Struggle

This has been a mild winter so far, but Winter doesn’t want us to forget it’s winter! So it dropped in for a visit yesterday, bringing single digit temperatures with it. The pipes are drained for the winter in the studio, so no more water woes for me over there, but I’ve been running water and space heaters in the struggle to keep the water from freezing at the house.

Luckily, it’s supposed to be back to 50 tomorrow, but spring is still over two months away….

I need to move to WV! It was -28 below here yesterday morning. Today only 6 below. Makes for fun time with watering the goats and chickens!

The same weather here, we will warm up into low 40’s tomorrow with some rain and then low temps again, everyday is a surprise I won’t go outside when there is ice, I figure the ice will melt quicker than I can heal.

Sorry to say folks that the mercury is supposed to reach 92°F in So.Cal. today Feb. 15, 2016. Yes!I said 92°F!!! :sun: Don’t get me wrong, I used to live in snow states, so I know what it’s like to be sick of the cold and snow, but come on! I’d really love some winter temps. The high 50’s would be nice for a change. :? Which just goes to show you that the grass is truly greener on the other side of the Rockies.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
