Suzanne, Love your blog. It keeps me happy during the day while at work. Love the G’ma bread also. Wish it lasted more than a day, tho. If it is not eaten, it dries out; probably because there isn’t any oil in it.

about the video: sorry, but it was not soothing.I would be scared to listen to that every night. Reminded me of an Alfred Hitchcock movie! Spooky!

    • Suzanne McMinn says:

Hi, Laura! I wonder why your bread is dry in a day! I keep homemade bread around for about 3 days. If it’s not gone by then, which it usually is, I let the goats have it because I like my bread fresh. But it’s not because it gets dry. Possibly you are overbaking it.

  2. Liesl says:

Is that Clover on the left, she’s not moving, out on her feet so to say!
The grey dog is also feeling a bit sleepy and not up to playing with it’s buddy! Lovely night sounds.

  3. Peggy says:

Such nice sounds. I’m afaid tonight the sounds will be differnet. Rain, sleet, storms here, so they are headed your way. I loved looking at the animals from above seeing them getting a snack before going to sleep.

  4. rileysmom says:

Ahhh, how wonderful! I love the tree frogs…..we don’t hear them often here cause it’s too dry most of the time.
    Thank you for sharing Suzanne.

  5. Andrea McCardle says:

YOu should record that onto a tape and sell it!

  6. CasieD says:

    Love those sounds!

I’m afraid it will be atleast 6 more weeks till we hear them up in Wisconsin 🙁

  7. Sue, a Florida Farm Girl says:

Wow!! What a raucous symphony of sound!!

  8. Maria says:

Love those sounds. It is still too cold up here for those sounds though, so it is nice to dream!

  9. Bonnie says:

Thanks for letting me sit on the porch with you. I don’t think people sit on the porch enough.

  10. Deb says:

I live for the sound of frogs in the spring! LOVE them!!! 😀

  11. Claudia says:

I see nobody can sleep with the noise. We have spring peepers here in Ohio, too, as well as the wild turkeys gobbling in the woods now. In South Carolina, I go out at night to listen to the whippoorwills. When we lived there, we couldn’t leave our windows open at night because they are nocturnal and roosted in the woods around our house. Have fun in South Carolina next week. I will be there, also, visiting my sister.

  12. Ramona says:

Sounds like my house at times!

  13. Carol Langille says:

What a grand symphony of Spring with God’s own Hand tuning the instruments! You are blessed to hear that, Suzanne…thank you for sharing!

  14. Journey11 says:

    Mmmm, sleepy time…

The peepers bring in the spring and the cicadas bring in the fall. It’s a mesmerizing sound, isn’t it? For some reason, we’ve been tortured every night as we are trying to drift off to sleep by a crazy killdeer that seems to be circling my house. I guess they’re in mating season. When do they sleep!? They are at it all day too.

  15. brookdale says:

Love the sound of the peepers! It will probably be another month before they start singing here…thanks for the spring memories!

  16. kellyb says:

I love the peace and quiet in the country! My friend’s neighbors moved back to NYC because country living was too noisy. I heard my first peepers of the year last Thursday evening when I was visiting friends. A wonderful welcome to Spring.

  17. Aimee says:

I looooooove this sound! But we don’t hear peepers in Charleston. I have to drive an hour and a half away to my parents’ house in Mingo County. Thanks for this! It made me smile. Sounds like home.

  18. Yankee Gal says:

That has to be one of the most relaxing sounds on earth. Unfortunately, our spring peepers won’t be heard for many more weeks – snow is still on the ground and our ponds are still frozen up here in NH! Thanks for sharing that little taste of spring – it perked me right up!

  19. Anita says:

Wow! That was so real for me, I could almost smell the air.

  20. texwisgirl says:

So soothing to me. nothing better than everyone safe and settled down for the night.

  21. nancy in iowa says:

That was fabulous! Thank you – and I even rocked in my computer chair!

  22. Urbanite says:

I suppose it depends on what you are used to. I live in a quiet city neighborhood that isn’t nearly as noisy as that – mostly just a few night birds, weather-related sounds and the occasional car. Like Laura, I didn’t find that soothing at all. After about 10 seconds it was more like fingernails on a chalkboard. It’s a wonderful thing that we can choose to live in places that suit our different tastes.

  23. bRose says:

How wonderful, the sounds of Spring! We are still waiting for it here in Northern CA, we have had snow, rain, wind, etc. Thank you for sharing, Suzanne.

  24. Yvonne says:

We have all that frog noise too, and sometimes I like it, and sometimes it drives me crazy and I have to come inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dancingmonster:

Oh, and snow is predicted for Saturday night and Sunday…was so hoping we were done with that!

  25. Melinda says:

I need to make that into a longer soundtrack and play it at night to help me sleep! I love the sounds of the night. Here at home we get a lot of crickets and an few bullfrogs when the weather warms. I have heard an owl for a few nights (don’t worry my chickens are safe…I have fly net over their pens). Great sounds!

  26. Lindsay says:

Ahh I love that sound! When we first moved out here I couldn’t sleep because of all the noise (our neighborhood has large lots and is very heavily wooded) but now I can’t sleep if it’s too quiet! I found that very soothing. Thanks for posting that! I can almost feel how relaxing it would be to look out over your porch at the animals winding down for the night.

  27. Beth @ Stoney Creek says:

I’m so happy to have found your blog, I’m really enjoying it! I have you on my weekly reads on my google reader now!

  28. Celia Allen says:

All that noise brings back good memories…I haven’t heard peepers in such a long time. Loved it!
    Mrs. Turkey :purpleflower:

  29. Julia says:

This brings back memories of Tennessee. How I miss being back east. Thanks for sharing this.

  30. Dennis says:

See, i knew that those animals ate day and night.I can tell by my feed bill that mine do to.

  31. pam from ohio says:

Those are some loud peepers. I love falling asleep to that sound when we leave our windows open at night. A few more weeks before that happens here in NE Ohio! Thanks for giving us a sneak preview, Suzanne!

  32. Karen Anne says:

    Laura,

I keep bread in the freezer and microwave slices as I need them. It keeps forever that way.

  33. lavenderblue says:

    Good night, dogs,
    Good night, goats
    Good night, peepers,
    Down in the moats.

Okay, I know its “puddles” but it didn’t rhyme. Suzanne’s the writer anyway.

I am, however, seriously homesick. I miss the sounds I used to hear from my open bedroom window in the country. We called them ‘treetoads’ though.

  34. Barbee' says:

Suzanne, you will know what a deeply wonderful thing you have done by posting these sounds! I have been So homesick for So Long, and this is one of the main things I miss – the Peepers. It is March, and I know they are there back home going on without me. Now I can go to your video anytime I need to hear them. I may wear it out.

  35. Elaine says:

Oh what wonderful night sounds! Love it! :clover: 😆

  36. Miss Becky says:

this is most joyful Suzanne. it sounds like what we call spring peepers here in Wisconsin. what a lovely video. thanks for sharing this. it made my day!

  37. Darlene in North GA says:

Now I’m so homesick I can’t hardly stand it! The only thing missing is the whippoorwills.

All I have is the lousy sound of traffic roaring by and sirens blaring – day and night. And I live in a SMALL town, but it’s still a town and I live on a main thoroughfare.

  38. Theresa B says:

Thank you so much for your efforts of bringing us to your little piece of paradise! I find such solice in hearing and seeing this little slice of heaven.

I hope you know you are appreciated and that you touch lives every day with your posts, pictures and videos.
