Turduckbuck

It feels like so many years ago since last spring that I almost didn’t recognize the sound I started hearing coming from the woods out this way in the past few days. Turkeys! The turkeys are gobbling! A sure signal that spring is on the way.

By the way, in that mess out there around the pond we are getting ready to start work on the duck ‘n’ buck yard!

I hope they like turkeys…..

Sounds like that insane meal folks make at Thanksgiving – a turkey, stuffed with a chicken stuffed with a duck or something like that… πŸ™‚

  2. Estella says:

Do you have a lot of turkeys there?
Where we used to live there were about 120 wild turkeys that ran through our property.
    They were very destructive.

Gosh, and I was happy just to hear starlings again.

I love to listen to the turkeys gobble! We have several on our place, but have never known them to be destructive…

I live here in Maine and I’ve got my own personal flock of turkeys. Well, not really. They’re wild, but they like my place best. πŸ™‚ The thing is, they always gobble. We’ve got about four feet of snow out there and they’re gobbling away and have been all winter. Maybe my flock is special. They must be especially happy. πŸ˜€

I must admit, I was not sure what this post would be about, judging by the title πŸ˜• Turkeys; lucky you!

  7. holstein woman says:

The ducks won’t care, the bucks will send them on their way and all you will see is the gobble you hear. πŸ˜†

Phew! I was afraid you’d come up with a new roaster meal; a duck stuffed in a turkey then stuffed in a buck. I can just imagine it’s feel hanging out of the oven! πŸ˜†

Down here at the old Farmhouse, it is “Early Spring Skunk Season.” Casper’s mother, Fancee, and his 2 brothers, Buddy and Bear, have been patrolling the farm for skunks! And finding them. My house even smells like skunk because the “freshly perfumed” dogs sleep on my porches and under my house. Yuck!

Suzanne – I will take your turkeys if you will take my skunks!

I did see a bright yellow goldfinch this morning, though! Spring is coming (slowly but it IS coming)!
