Update on the Mister

I’m not sure how much longer I’m keeping him at Sassafras Farm. He’s been here for two months. Glory Bee is probably bred by now, but I have no idea. But I do know that Mister has suddenly started breaking out of the pasture, so after having to bring him home twice, I moved the cows to the more secure back barn yard. The grass has been growing in there, so they’ve got a bit to eat, but it won’t last long and I don’t want to be feeding out hay right now. At this time of year, I really want cows in the field. So I’ll probably be sending him home sometime in the near future. And crossing my fingers that there’s a calf on the way!

I’m kind of surprised that someone hasn’t come up with some kind of pregnancy test for cows. How difficult could that be?

It sounds as if Mister did his thing because he is now searching for other pastures to fertilize! Our neighbor’s bull was finished in less than 2 weeks. They seem very discreet in that you’ll probably not see it happen. Good luck – oh BTW, is this the first calf for Glory Bee?

    Great photo! 🙂

We only keep bulls for 45 days. That way MOST OF THE TIME all the girls get bred. He is probably ready to go home also.
If your vet is an older one he probably can preg check her in 19 days at tell you if she is preg. Lets say our vet can, but he IS A COW VET.

The Mister looks a little perturbed. His hair on his forehead makes it look like he has frown wrinkles! 🙂

Sorry, can’t help comparing this to the book cover! Totally opposite: don’t you dare even come near here. . . (lol) Hope he’s done his job by now.

He doesn’t look happy. I’m sure he wants to go home to his own herd by now.
