Lavender Sugar

This smells even better than you think it does.

When you put it in your hot tea, it is like lavender heaven, in tea form.

It’s way harder to make than you might think.

Grow some lavender. Till the soil with your bare hands….or you could cheat by buying it at your local farmy-grocery store. Make sure when you go there, you walk uphill, both ways.

Put the lavender and sugar into your food processor or blender. I used 1/4 cup lavender to 2 cups sugar. All that measuring gave me a headache.

Get “the help” to press the button .

Scrutinize blendedness.

Slackers! MORE BLENDING!

Perfect! I think I need a nap.

Slave over a hot computer, writing a post. Spell lavender wrong, each time. Sprain finger pushing the spell-check button.

*Whew* You need a break. Go make some hot tea. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Larissa, thanks for slogging your way through this to the final step. I’m sure you wanted to quit many times before the job was finished. Hooray for perseverance.

    Whew!!! LOL!

I LOVE the sounds of lavender sugar! I have some growing…maybe I should use it for some sugar this year instead of baths and soap!

    Larissa,

I’m exhausted just reading that post. Thank you for all the sacrifices you made to share this post with us. You probably need a vacation after all that work, poor thing.

I am so excited about this. My friend is giving me 3 lavender plants for my birthday. Guess what is on my to-do list? Isn’t it wonderful when some of the simplest things in life are the best? Thank you for the great post and humor!

That is a great idea, I need your helper! Or one similar to him. Cute little feller. Slave driver!?

oooooh…thanks for this post. You just reminded me that I have a paper grocery bag with lavendar drying in the back of my pantry closet. It’s been there since last summer so should be dry by now! Must get that out.

Love your writing style, Larissa. Love your recipe, too! Thanks for sharing both with the poor, unwashed masses. 🙂

  7. Larissa says:

    Thanks, everyone!

I should make mention that if you spoon the sugar directly into your hot tea, you are going to get little lavendar floaties. If this bugs you, I sugest some sort of straining implement 😉

I was thinking about making sugar cookies with this sugar. Thoughts?

  8. Angelina says:

Woooh! sounds exhausting, LOL, what a great idea. I have never had cookies with lavender, how interesting. What about Lavender vanilla cookies? mmmhhmmmm. 😛

  9. bonita says:

First time I’d use very little. Lavender is strong and too much will not only make you think you’re eating perfume, it can make the recipe bitter. I’d be much more likely to use the lavender sugar as the sugar sprinkle on top, rather than in the actual recipe–somehow I think that gives more bang for the buck because of the beauty. BTW it is possible to substitute lavender for rosemary in some recipes.

Cookies?!? How about some Lemon Lavender ones?

Your post CrAcKeD me up!!! Sounds extremely difficult & very labor intensive! Will probably try it anyway 🙂

This is a great post! I’m new to the site – I have found the way to save the recipe but can I save this blog post? Thank you.

    • CindyP says:

You can’t save a blog post, but if you click into the recipe link (at the bottom of the post) you can save that recipe to your Recipe Box. All of the recipes that are in blog posts are linked BACK to the blog post in the Attribution Link.

      Hope that helps!
